Hotel le Colombier

Hotel le Colombier is situated along a cobblestone street in two buildings, a charming three-story brown building with blue shutters and window boxes, and a smaller, three-story, half-timbered town house from the mid-1500s, which holds the hotel's suites. Decor is refined and stylish, with marbled floors, light brown wood-like walls, modern angular couches and ottomans upholstered in gray, and the occasional red accent. The large red stiletto sculpture in the lobby is somewhat inexplicable, but overall, the decor stylishly combines modern and traditional elements. With its location in the center of Colmar's Old Town, this is an ideal spot for tourists and attracts many couples.

Hotel le Colombier is situated on a busy cobblestone street in the heart of Colmar's historic Old Town in the popular Little Venice (La Petite Venise) area. All that the Old Town has to offer is within walking distance, including restaurants and bars, and the hotel is a seven-minute walk from the gothic St. Martin's Church. Colmar is located in northeastern France's Alsace region, near the German border, and is positioned on the popular Alsatian Wine Route. The city's main train station (Gare de Colmar) is a 13-minute walk from the hotel, while Colmar Airport is a 12-minute drive.

Rooms at Le Colombier are individually decorated and have a simple yet stylish, modern look. They tend to feature clean lines, neutral or cream-colored walls with bright accents, and either carpeted or light wood floors. In some rooms, modern furniture dominates, like triangular side tables and cylindrical upholstered chairs. Others feature more traditional accents, like classic wingback chairs with wooden arms. In some of the suites, which are situated in the historic townhouse (a separate building right next to the main one), dark exposed wood beams add a dash of rustic charm. Guests should note, however, that the older building does not offer elevator access to rooms. Bathrooms vary, but feel high-end, modern, and clean, with gray or white tiling and, usually, large vanities. Bathrooms may include showers or shower/tub combos, though the tubs can be small. 

All rooms are air-conditioned and include work desks, LCD TVs with international channels, iPod docking stations, well-stocked minibars, Nespresso coffeemakers, and free Wi-Fi. Bathrooms are stocked with hairdryers, Nuxe individual toiletries, and bathrobes and slippers. Upgraded rooms may have extras like sitting areas and bidets. Room sizes vary and guests occasionally complain that Standard Rooms can be cramped. Guests also sometimes note noise from the busy street outside, so light sleepers should consider earplugs or may want to request rooms facing the courtyard.

This small hotel has only a few extra property features. There are lots of nooks for eating breakfast, and the hotel serves up a high-end but simple continental spread with items like croissants, artisanal jams, eggs, and cheeses. A charming courtyard offers outdoor seating, and a grassy patio gives another spot for fresh air. The hotel has a lobby bar and lounge area, but no restaurant.

There's a nice sauna on the premises (available during limited evening hours or upon request), but no gym or spa. A computer is available for guest use, and Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel. Reception operates 24/7, and staff can provide concierge services and can arrange for luggage storage, laundry service, or childcare. Pets (dogs and cats) are welcome for no extra charge. Free parking may be available right outside the hotel, but it's limited, and guests say parking in general can be a bit of a hassle.
