Bottom Line

Illica Hotel is a four-pearl property located on the beach about 10 minutes from central Cesme. It offers a huge outdoor pool, a spa with a natural thermal pool, and a (for a fee) water park. Options range from Standard Rooms with minibars and balconies to Suites with spacious terraces or one-bedroom Bungalows with private beach access. Along with an international buffet restaurant, there are poolside and beach bars. However, food gets mixed reviews and the restaurant is often crowded. The free kids’ club and children’s pool make the property popular with families. The hotel's massive conference center is a bonus for business travelers. Couples who don’t mind being away from beaches might like the Chigdem Hotel, a charming boutique near Alcati’s center.

Scene

Large resort that caters to families and children

The Illica Hotel Spa & Wellness Resort is one of largest properties in the Cesme area. It sits on a manicured sandy beach area crowded with sunbeds and umbrellas. Lawns, palm trees, and shrubs fill the grounds. A massive outdoor pool adjacent to the sand is the focal point of the property. In the main building, a large bird mobile dangles from the ceiling of the double-height lobby. A two-story building with blue-glass balconies holds guest rooms and suites. Decor is contemporary and functional, suited to the many families with children who stay here during the summer months. Some areas, such as the beachside snack bar, have lovely views. However, dining areas can become hectic during meal times. The huge water park and conference center also give the resort an impersonal feeling.

Location

On Ilica Beach, 10 minutes from town center

The property offers a quiet location on Ilica Beach, known for its thermal springs. Cesme is a resort area and most people come here to relax by the pool or on one of several beaches located in easy driving distance. The town center of Cesme is 10 minutes' drive and offers a long waterfront promenade and many restaurants and shops. The center also features the 19th-century Ayios Haralambos Church, the Cesme Museum, and the striking Genovese Castle. The more upscale Alacatı area is also 10 minutes from the hotel by car. Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport is about a one-hour drive.

Rooms

Rooms with minibars and balconies, suites, and bungalows

There are a variety of room options for guests of the Ilica Hotel Spa & Wellness Resort. Standard Rooms, renovated in 2013, are contemporary but somewhat dully decorated in brown and beige. Each has a long wooden desk and a soft armchair. Amenities include flat-screen TVs (with no English channels), stocked minibars, and small furnished balconies. Modern compact bathrooms have shower//tub combos, toiletries, magnifying mirrors, and dated hairdryers. For more space and style, guests can opt for a suite that has a circular bed or a huge terrace with sunbeds. Standalone one-bedroom Bungalows are also available with access to a private beach area. While Bungalows have charm, thanks to straw roofs and summery decor, their location near the water park can result in noise. Some rooms are starting to show wear and tear and could use a style update.

Features

Private beach, huge outdoor poor, water park, and thermal spa

Ilica Hotel offers features that are best suited to families and business travelers. Along with a private sandy beach, there is a massive outdoor pool and a children's pool. The hotel also has a large water park with colorful slides and fountains, but there's an entry fee. An indoor pool in a sunny, window-filled room is a nice place to unwind. There is also a full-service spa where treatments are offered in the natural thermal pool. A fitness center is on-site and bike rentals are available for a change of pace. International cuisine is served for breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the main restaurant. It gets crowded at meal times and food gets mixed reviews. The beachside snack bar serves light fare and drinks and there are also lobby and poolside bars. Some of the bars are seasonal. An attached conference center with 11 meeting rooms and space for 900 people draws business travelers to the property. Parking and Wi-Fi are free.
