Ponte Vedra Inn & Club

The Ponte Vedra Inn & Club celebrated its 90th anniversary in 2018, but constant updates and renovations have kept the property looking as elegant and luxe as when it first opened in 1928. Known for its wide array of on-site amenities, handsome interiors, and manicured grounds, the property sprawls over a vast oceanfront area abutting a beautiful white-sand beach. The resort’s 249 rooms are spread over about a dozen low-rise buildings, some of them directly overlooking the beach, while several smaller structures house the restaurants, spa, lobby, and other common areas. Long walks between some rooms and public areas may not be convenient to some, but the sheer size of the resort does not detract from the quality of the maintenance. Jacksonville Beach is known for its long stretches of powdery sand, and though there aren’t many hotels in the area that can compare to the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club, there are plenty of other oceanfront properties for travelers shopping around for something different. The One Ocean Resort Hotel & Spa is another luxe property with family-friendly amenities, cute rooms, and a great spa. At a lower price point, the Best Western Oceanfront is a decent alternative, featuring free breakfast and Wi-Fi, a small outdoor pool, and well-equipped contemporary rooms.  

The Ponte Vedra Inn is located directly on a calm stretch of beach less than 10 minutes south by car of Jacksonville Beach. It's an affluent area known for its relaxed surroundings, plentiful golf options, quiet beaches, and upscale resorts. Though there isn’t much within walking distance of the resort, several area attractions can be reached by car in under 10 minutes, including Adventure Landing amusement park and the Jacksonville Beach Golf Club. Downtown Jacksonville, home to a number of museums and plenty of restaurants, is about a 25-minute drive away, as are the EverBank Field and the Tree Hill Nature Center. It takes about 40 minutes to drive to Jacksonville International Airport. 

The resort’s 249 rooms and suites are housed in a number of low-rise buildings, some offering direct access to the beach and others overlooking the grounds and golf course. Rooms and suites are done up in the same classic, elegant style, with heavy wooden furniture, wall-to-wall carpeting, and a soft palette that combines green, salmon, and beige hues to create soothing spaces. Big windows make rooms light and airy, and all rooms have at least a balcony with wrought-iron patio furniture. Each room is outfitted with a well-reviewed bed, several pillows, a flat-screen TV, coffeemaker, and USB charging points. Wi-Fi is free throughout the property. Deluxe Oceanfront Rooms feature wet bars with mini-fridges and microwaves, while suites have at least basic kitchenettes. Bathrooms vary in size, and have either shower/tub combos or separate glass showers and soaking tubs. 

Ponte Vedra Inn & Club is known for its outstanding array of on-site features that include family-friendly and adult-only options. In addition to four outdoor pools, a lovely beach with loungers and umbrellas (for a fee), 15 tennis courts, and a seasonal kids’ club, the resort offers a range of wellness features, including a wonderful spa with over 100 body treatments and salon services, and a large fitness center with free classes, tons of machines, and a heated lap pool. Fat-tire beach bikes and non-motorized water sports are available for a fee as well.  One of the resort’s definite highlights is its dining options, ranging from casual snack bars by the beach to elegant eateries serving up gourmet cuisine. Prices aren’t cheap, but the vast majority of guests find them right for quality and taste. Guests also get access to restaurants at sister property The Lodge & Club at Ponte Vedra Beach, located just a two-minute drive away. Room service is provided 24/7.The hotel also features 25,000 square feet of meeting space -- both indoors and outdoors -- and free self-parking. Valet parking is available for a fee.
