Nest On The Lake

Nest On The Lake has a traditional Italian charm and incredible Lake Como views from all of the rooms and the hotel’s shaded terrace. The building dates back to the 1800s and underwent a huge renovation in 2010. Today, the family-run bed-and-breakfast is warm with lovely exteriors and interiors. There’s a small garden with green grass and loungers, plus a terrace with iron tables and chairs that’s overflowing with potted plants, ivies, and flowers. Inside, there’s an antique-like quality to the public spaces such as old black-and-white photographs in the stairways (there’s no elevator) and stone walls, fireplace, and wooden ceiling beams in the cozy breakfast room. The design is contemporary for the most part, though not upscale or modern by any means; rather, guests will experience a quaint atmosphere and personal service from the owners. Most travelers are couples on romantic getaways, though sometimes families take advantage of a quiet stay here too -- especially in the apartment. 

Nest on the Lake has a Lake Como lakefront location in the small village of Lezzeno. There’s little to do in the area and only about nine restaurants and bars to choose from, with the farthest about a 23-minute walk away. For those staying in the apartment with a kitchenette, there’s a grocery store that’s a three-minute walk from the property. It takes 10 minutes by car to reach Bellagio -- a more happening town with shopping and attractions. Malpensa Airport is an hour- and 20-minute drive away.

The four rooms at the Nest on the Lake are fairly spacious with a mix of modern and homey decor, plus the added benefit of their own independent entrances, allowing for privacy. The rooms feature wood laminate or tiled floors, earthy textured walls, floral printed bedspreads or sheets, and wardrobes or closets for storage. Some of the rooms feel a bit more up-to-date -- like the apartment -- compared to others -- like the Family Room. For those with kids, the Family Room and Apartment have bunk beds. All rooms overlook Lake Como from furnished balconies or terraces. They also feature flat-screen TVs, kettles, libraries, and some mini-fridges. Only some rooms have air-conditioning. Bathrooms are small. They’re equipped with showers, toiletries, and hairdryers. 

The Apartment features a kitchenette with a mini-fridge, microwave, stovetop, sink, and oven. Note that daily cleaning isn’t available (unless requested and for a fee) and there's a final cleaning fee added to the apartment bill too. Guests have noted that rooms on the main road can be a bit noisier than others. 

As a bed-and-breakfast, there aren’t many on-site features here. The hotel does offer a free breakfast buffet of extensive cold items like fruit, cheese, cold cuts, yogurts, olives, hard-boiled eggs, tomatoes, pastries, breads, cereals, juice, and coffee. The breakfast costs an additional fee for those staying in the apartment. There’s a lovely outdoor terrace where guests can have breakfast or relax in a chair and look over the lake. Next to the terrace is a small garden with a few loungers. A private, rocky beach can be accessed from the terrace as well. It has a few chairs and kayaks available for guests to use for free. Other perks include free Wi-Fi throughout, bikes available for rent, small pets welcome for a fee, and on-site parking for a small charge.
