Hotel Tiber Fiumicino

Built in 2011, the Hotel Tiber Fiumicino has a modern, angular facade. Nicely landscaped flower beds and a cascading fountain lead to a large terrace with cushioned wicker seating areas. The lobby is bright and modern, with some transitional accents. Floor-to-ceiling windows align a sectioned off wood floor with leather bench seating and chairs organized around coffee tables in small sitting areas. The occasional, more traditional upholstered armchairs with turned legs create a homey, almost vintage vibe, and offer a nice contrast. Another standout spot is the fifth-floor breakfast room, which has large windows, white dining chairs, a wood floor, and a bar accented with bright geometric tiles. Room decor is straightforward, but orange, yellow, brown, and cream accents add a quirky, playful vibe. The hotel is intimate, and has more character than the large, chain hotels that usually reign around airports. Given its distance to central Rome, the hotel is more suited to travelers in transit or business travelers making use of the hotel's conference and function rooms than tourists.

The Hotel Tiber Fiumicino is situated right on the water in Fiumicino, about a 10-minute drive from Leonardo da Vinci International Airport via car or the hotel's airport shuttle. The hotel's waterfront spot offers a charming respite for those in transit, or who prefer to stay outside central Rome. Fiumicino has several seaside restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. The hotel's proximity to the airport makes it convenient for those in transit. Business travelers also appreciate the location near the airport and conference venues. The hotel offers shuttle service to and from Rome three times a day (approximately a 40-minute trip), but reservation are required and the shuttle service comes with an extra fee. Garage parking is available for an extra fee. 

The Hotel Tiber Fiumicino's 64 rooms are modern, although their decor, with a spunky, '70s-inspired color palette, is somewhat out of sync with the rest of the hotel. In Standard Twin Rooms geometric brown, cream, and yellow headboards are set against orange accent walls, which coordinate with the blankets and upholstered chairs. Rooms have tiled floors, white walls, and light-wood laminate furniture. Bathrooms have white/beige tiling, bidets, and shower/tub combos. They also include hairdryers, orange slippers, and hotel-brand toiletries in orange containers.

Standard Rooms, which may include double beds or side-by-side twins, can be small, but they have a decent amount of storage space in open wardrobes, and some have balconies. Rooms are air-conditioned and have safes, small desks, flat-screen TVs, and free Wi-Fi, along with minibars but no coffeemakers. Past guests recommend the water-view rooms on higher floors. Rooms are well-insulated against noise from the nearby airport and busy waterfront road that faces the hotel.

Amenities at the Hotel Tiber Fiumicino cater to both guests rushing off to the airport and business travelers decompressing between flights. The hotel has a chic restaurant and bar, which offers seasonal outdoor dining, happy hour specials, children's menus, and seafood selections. A daily breakfast buffet is served in a fifth-floor room overlooking the water. The buffet is included in room rates, and includes eggs, bacon, and cereal. Room service is available, but hours are limited.

The hotel has a rooftop sundeck with loungers as well as a small pool (note: swim caps are required). There are meeting and function rooms in addition to a nice lobby/lounge area with plenty of seating and tables and outdoor sitting areas. 

Garage parking is available for an extra fee, as are shuttles to and from both the airport and Rome. Shuttles to Rome run three times a day and should be reserved in advance. Wi-Fi is free throughout. Staff can assist with luggage storage, laundry and ironing, and other services.
