100 Queen's Gate Hotel London, Curio Collection by Hilton formerly DoubleTree by Hilton London - Kensington is large, with 228 rooms. The West London location is within walking distance of a tube stop and museums, rooms are small but modern, the lobby is sophisticated, and access to the members’ lounge (where evening drinks are served) is included with most room types.
The nearby Millennium Bailey's tends to have more satisfied guests, though its rooms aren't as modern and it lacks a fitness center, unlike this property.
Location
On a quiet residential street close to South Kensington Station, museums, and shops
Location is among this property's major attractive points. South Kensington Station is a five-minute walk away, and the hotel is well situated for museum-going -- Victoria and Albert Musem, Royal Hall, and the Natural History Museum are all within walking distance. It's also possible to walk to Harrods (17 minutes by foot), and the glamorous complexes of Knightsbridge and the high-end boutiques of Chelsea are both about 10 minutes away by metro or car. The hotel itself sits on a relatively quiet residential street, just off a main road, which hosts a good handful of shops and places to dine as well as the famed upscale fine art auction house Christie’s.
Features
Fairly well-equipped for an independent four-star hotel
This hotel is fairly well equipped to service both corporate and leisure guests. It has a large variety of meeting spaces, and the bright gym has wood floors, a few machines, a mounted TV, and a steam room -- though no drinking water is available here (this lack of attention to detail is somewhat typical for the hotel). The restaurant serves international cuisine, though it's looking a bit dated, and there's seating available in an atrium lounge. Elysium lounge is one of the highlights -- this is a sleek, contemporary space with moody lighting and lavender tones where free breakfast, coffee, tea, evening drinks, and snacks are served (for all but Club Room guests).
