The Academy is an upscale boutique hotel set in a row of Georgian houses in central London's bookish Bloomsbury neighborhood. While the setting is relatively serene, there's plenty of public transport and much of the capital's bustling center within walking distance. The hotel underwent an extensive renovation that was completed in 2018. If rates feel a little steep -- especially with a charged breakfast -- guests could take a look at the nearby Arosfa, where rates include full English breakfast.
Location
Set in leafy and bookish Bloomsbury a block from the British Museum
The hotel is
located on a block of mostly residential houses in a pretty street in the heart
of central London's leafy -- and literary -- Bloomsbury. While the area is
relatively quiet, there are plenty of pubs, restaurants, and bookshops in the
vicinity, and the hotel is also within an easy, seven-minute walk of the
start of Oxford Street shopping and Tottenham Court Road Tube station. Goodge Street Tube is even nearer, at four minutes' walk, and the
iconic British Museum lies just a block away. Buzzing Soho nightlife is also
just 10 minutes away on foot and the theaters of the West End another five. Heathrow Airport is a 35-minute drive without traffic, or around an hour by Tube.
