Central location along the Magnificent Mile
Large rooms, some with great views
Luxury spa and wonderful four-lane lap pool with skylight
Large fitness center with modern machines and flat-screen TVs

Unexceptional restaurant (but with gorgeous city views)
This 434-room hotel sits atop an upscale shopping mall right off the Magnificent Mile. The luxurious spa, the wonderful four-lane lap pool, the great design, and the outstanding address could make it one of the nicest hotels in town -- but the rooms fall a tad short— with sophisticated but somewhat generic decor, some outdated amenities and shower/tub combos in many bathrooms (EDIT: Rooms are currently undergoing renovations expected to be completed Spring 2020). The cuisine at the on-site brasserie doesn't wow, but the beautiful city views through its floor-to-ceiling windows do.
Location
Atop Water Tower Place, half a block from the Magnificent Mile
The Ritz-Carlton Chicago is set in a 74-story skyscraper it shares with Water Tower Place, one of Chicago's most popular shopping centers. The hotel entrance is located on a side street half a block from the iconic stretch of North Michigan Avenue known as the Magnificent Mile, where some of Chicago's most elegant hotels stand side-by side with expensive stores. Art galleries, top-notch restaurants, and landmarks -- such as the historic Water Tower, John Hancock Observatory, the Pumping Station and Wrigley Building -- are within easy walking distance from the hotel.
