Located on the Roanoke Sound, the Oasis Suites Hotel is a luxury boutique hotel with weatherboard siding and white balconies. The 16 charming suites have homey furnishings, private master bedrooms, and kitchenettes. There’s no beach access, but there is a wooden walkway with a big gazebo on the waterfront as well as an outdoor pool and hot tub with a separate children’s pool. Guests looking for a beachfront hotel may prefer staying at the Sanderling Resort, a hotel in Duck with a beautiful sandy beach, fire pits, and live musical entertainment.
From the outside, the hotel looks more like a private home than a hotel. It's covered in brown weatherboard siding with white framed windows and white balconies. Inside the lobby, the homey scene often inspires guests to make a free cup of coffee using the Keurig machine and drink it on one of the leather club chairs. Outside on the grassy lawn, yellow Adirondack chairs offer guests a spot to look out on views of the sound and the waterside dock. There’s also spot for grilling the day’s catch on a wooden patio with picnic tables. Guests can dock their boats outside the hotel, and there’s an area to clean fish.
On Roanoke Sound, a 20-minute drive to Roanoke Island
The Oasis Suites Hotel is on the Roanoke Sound in Nags Head. It’s a short drive to the beach and to a variety of restaurants including seafood, pizza, and fast food options. The hotel is a 12-minute drive to Bodie Island Lighthouse and a 25-minute drive to Kitty Hawk. Jockey’s Ridge State Park, with its impressive sand dunes, is less than a 10-minute drive away, and Roanoke Island takes less than 20 minutes to reach by car. Norfolk International Airport is a two-hour drive away. Parking at the hotel is free.
Beautiful suites with wood floors, leather couches, and Roanoke Sound views
The suites at Oasis Suites are a real highlight and huge draw for families and couples. Wood floors, leather couches, and silk curtains create a high-end homey feel at the Oasis Suites Hotel. All suites have private master bedrooms with king or queen beds and bathrooms with spa tubs and separate showers. Kitchenettes consist of granite countertops, coffeemakers, convection ovens, and full stainless steel refrigerators. Rooms on the third floor have cathedral ceilings, and some rooms have beautiful views of the Roanoke Sound. All rooms have flat-screen TVs and free Wi-Fi. Note that some rooms on the lower floors can pick up street noise.
Outdoor pool and hot tub, patio with grill, and boat docking privileges
The hotel has an outdoor pool with a hot tub along with a separate children’s pool -- neither of which provide much shade. There’s a dock with boat docking privileges for guests, who also use the pier to fish and hunt for crabs. An outdoor patio includes a grill that guests can use to cook up their own freshly caught fish. A small carpeted fitness center has a window that looks out onto the water and houses a few cardio machines and free weights. Although there's no full breakfast service, free coffee and pastries are offered in the lobby. For a fee, the hotel will stock room pantries with groceries. Wi-Fi is free throughout the property. Portrait sessions can be arranged for an additional fee -- a fun and unexpected feature.
