Scene

Simple and classic property overlooking the water

Hotel Alba Chiara is simply and classically decorated, with paintings by the hotel’s owner adorning the walls. Statues and vases filled with colorful flowers are scattered around the small lobby. There’s a lovely covered patio with a wood-beamed ceiling and also a large terrace overlooking the sea, with a few lounge chairs scattered around. The ocean views from the hotel are superb.

Location

Close to beaches, restaurants, and bars

The hotel is located a couple of blocks from the water, with the most beautiful of Salento’s beaches just a few miles away. It’s also down the block from a few bars and restaurants, which organize concerts and DJ sets on summer evenings. It’s about 25 minutes by car to Otranto and an hour or more to Santa Maria di Leuca and Gallipoli.

Rooms

Clean and colorful, but on the basic side; some offer pretty sea views

The hotel has 11 air-conditioned rooms and one suite, which are all fairly basic. They are simply but colorfully decorated, with sponge-painted walls in shades of light pink, blue, yellow, and aqua. Some rooms have balconies and sea views, while the suite has a large, private terrace with a wooden roof. All rooms have flat-screen TVs, minibars, safes, and hairdryers. The bathrooms have tiles matching the color of the room and are equipped with stall showers. Though the rooms are fairly well insulated from noise, light sleepers may be disturbed by the music from local bars that can sometimes be heard in the summertime.

Features

Restaurant serves delicious food and there are freshly baked pastries at breakfast

The hotel’s restaurant serves pizzas from a wood-fired oven, pastas, and seafood dishes for lunch and dinner in a large, airy space with a soaring, wood-beamed ceiling. The delicious cuisine attracts both hotel guests (half board and full board options are available) and non-guests. The morning breakfast buffet includes freshly baked cakes and croissants. Bikes, beach umbrellas, and chairs are available to rent.
