While this hotel doesn't exactly stand out from the competition in Ipanema -- there are any number of straightforward budget and mid-range spots all around -- there's enough here to make a stay here pleasant. Glass windows and doors span the ground level of this eight-story building, and passersby on the street can peek into the restaurant. Inside, the lobby is small, with just the front desk and a couple of chairs. Female Brazilian dolls add a splash of cheer, while hallways to guest rooms are narrow and plain. It's a calm hotel in a busy area, but most guests don't spend much time there, opting instead to be out and about exploring and hanging out on the beach. All sorts of travelers make their way here, with couples in the majority.

The Forte de Copacabana military history museum can be reached in 10 minutes by car. Corcovado Mountain, where the famed Christ the Redeemer statue is found, is about 35 minutes away by car, or an hour and 45 minutes by public transportation. Sugarloaf Mountain is a half-hour drive from the hotel. Rio's airport is 30 minutes to an hour away by car, depending on traffic.
