The Rome Marriott Grand Hotel Flora is an upscale option that aims high and has prices to match. First impressions are great: an elegant stone facade outside sets a distinguished tone, while elegant marble floors and generous skylights are found throughout the open lobby. Light jazz adds a relaxed feel. Via Veneto, propelled to international fame by Fellini’s "La Dolce Vita," was a popular hangout spot for Hollywood stars and jet-set personalities including Audrey Hepburn and Gary Cooper. It’s still one of Rome’s most famous streets today, with a calm atmosphere that resonates with that of the hotel. The classic architecture, although not original, includes plenty of elegant sculpting, beautifully blending the modern with the classical. There’s a genuine upmarket vibe, and most guests appreciate the friendly staff -- although past Marriott Rewards members have felt a lack of the usual pampering. Most visitors hail from the U.S. -- the majority being couples, with a smaller fraction of families and business guests frequenting the hotel. 

Via Veneto, propelled to international fame by Fellini’s La Dolce Vita, was popular with Hollywood stars in the 1950s and '60s. It’s still one of Rome’s most famous streets today, packed with luxury hotels and dining options. Famous monuments such as the Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain are within easy walking distance -- five minutes and 15 minutes, respectively. The main train station, the Pantheon, Piazza Venezia, and Piazza Navona can all be reached in around 20 minutes on foot. The Colosseum is more easily accessed by metro (18 minutes), while the Vatican is a 20-minute taxi ride from the hotel. Both Fiumicino and Ciampino Airports can be reached in around 30 minutes by car. 

Rome Marriott Grand Hotel Flora’s 155 rooms have a handsome look, with wood floors, elegant sculpted paneling, and mix of modern and formal decor. All rooms come with amenities like queen- or king-size beds, high thread-count linens, bathrobes and slippers, pillow menus, well-stocked minibars, tea- and coffee-making facilities, and free safe access. Unfortunately, Wi-Fi is only free for Marriott Rewards members (which is free to join). The marble bathrooms have a classic feel, and although many are on the small side, a good handful come with separate tubs and showers. Rooms on the upper floors have gorgeous views of the ancient city walls bordering Villa Borghese, while others overlook distinguished Via Venuto or the peaceful internal courtyard. Intended for single use, Classic Rooms are the smallest category, while Deluxe Rooms can accommodate up to two adults. Superior Rooms are larger and situated on the upper floors, with lovely views over Villa Borghese or Via Veneto. Junior Suites feature a separate bedroom and living room, while Oval Suites are larger and have fantastic views. The Presidential Suite is the highest category unit, and has either one or two bedrooms.

There’s a good array of facilities at this hotel, including an enormous wraparound rooftop terrace with spectacular views over Rome. It’s a guest favorite for enjoying the fantastic free breakfast buffet, which features a robust selection of cakes and different juices, salads, a selection of cured meats, plus hot options including pancakes and waffles, scrambled eggs, sausages, and pre-made omelettes. The handsome bar is accompanied by an informal restaurant serving casual Mediterranean cuisine, while a more formal gourmet restaurant serves elegant, Mediterranean a la carte dishes. The ample business facilities include 10 different meeting rooms with a dedicated breakout area, plus a business center (however, the internet isn’t free). A 24-hour fitness center with Technogym equipment is free for guests, while use of the sauna and hot tub in the wellness center must be booked in advance. Unfortunately, Wi-Fi is only free for Marriott rewards members, though this loyalty program is free to join. The hotel partners with a nearby public garage to accommodate guests with cars, and it includes valet service. Marriott Rewards members receive special VIP gifts, along with any guests celebrating special occasions.
