Bottom Line

The eight-room Aroma Suites is a romantic boutique hotel in the center of Fira with stunning Aegean Sea views. The architecture and decor are chic, simple and white, with creative lamps, bright accent colors, and a variety of cozy, picturesque terraces. Guest rooms are individually decorated and have balconies, but they are close together and thus don't feel private. There's no pool, but guests can use the one at a sister property a few minutes' walk away. The property also lacks parking; guests planning on renting cars may prefer the Evgenia Villas & Suites instead.

Aroma Suites

Scene

Peaceful and romantic hotel oozing with Greek chic and high-end rustic simplicity

The Aroma Suites is a quintessential example of Greek Island chic, with its stark white stucco reflecting the sun, and simple, rustic decor that is unique and romantic. The hotel offers breathtaking views of Nea Kameni island and the Aegean far below. Next door to the hotel is an old church with a white dome, which adds to the hotel's picturesque look. The breakfast area is small but  beautiful and consists of an outdoor terrace with a wooden bar nestled against the church dome, overlooking the sea. There are pretty narrow pathways between guest rooms and terraces, and lots of tiny cubbyholes with deck furniture where guests can cozy up with a drink or a book.

Location

In central Fira, overlooking the Aegean Sea and walking distance to taverns, shops, and restaurants

The Aroma Suites are located in the center of Fira, with plenty of taverns, shops, bars, and restaurants within a short walk. The path to the hotel has few steps, which makes it a good choice for guests who are less mobile. There's a picturesque old church next door and a bus station a five-minute walk down the road (there is also free parking near here, but no guarantees you'll snag a spot). The Belonio and Nomikeion conference centers are both within a 10-minute walk. The hotel is under 15 minutes by car from the Santorini Harbor, and around 10 minutes from the island's Thira airport.

Rooms

Romantic, individually designed rooms with built-in beds and personal terraces

Each air-conditioned guest room at the Aroma Suites is individually designed and decorated and named after a herb or a spice. The architecture is quintessentially Greek, with white stucco walls and archways, and rooms have individual balconies, although there are no privacy walls between them. The decor is romantic, with some built-in beds and canopy-style ceilings dotted with tiny color-changing lights. Amenities include MP3 players, flat-screen TVs with satellite channels, refrigerators, safes, and free toiletries. Room types include Standard Rooms, Sea View Rooms, and traditional cave Suites, one of which has a kitchenette. There's also a Honeymoon Suite with a spectacular whirlpool hot tubs. Bathrooms are tiny but lovely, with vessel sinks and walk-in showers.

Features

Lovely breakfast terrace, in-room massage, swimming pool access, and airport shuttle

The Aroma Suites features a lovely breakfast terrace with a bar overlooking the Aegean. Breakfast is served on the terrace or delivered to individual rooms, but it's not included in the room rate and it's a bit pricey for what you get -- it typically includes fresh orange juice, coffee cake, yogurt, ham sandwiches, and eggs. No other meals are served, but the central location means it's easy to find restaurants nearby. There's no pool or spa, but guests can use the swimming pool at the hotel's sister property, Nonis Apartments, a few minutes' walk away, and in-room massages can be arranged. The hotel offers airport shuttle service upon prior arrangement, for a fee, and there's no parking lot (though free parking is available within a short walk). Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel.
