Bottom Line

With charming whitewashed Cycladic architecture and lovely grounds peppered with trees and plants, this mid-range boutique hotel offers a tranquil stay in a lovely setting that's a seven-minute walk to the rarely used Baxedes Beach. Features include an attractive outdoor pool and kids' pool, plus a poolside bar and restaurant that serves traditional Greek fare with organic ingredients from its own garden. There's also a covered outdoor yoga space that hosts retreats. Rooms are clean and simple in style, many with lovely outdoor spaces, but amenities are a bit dated and bathrooms are tiny and in need of revamps. Travelers who prefer to be in central Oia might want to check out the centrally located Residence Suites instead, but it lacks on-site dining.

Scene

Cute mid-range boutique property set on well-maintained grounds

Occupying several cute whitewashed buildings with powder blue windows and doors, this charming boutique property offers great views of the Aegean Sea (but not on the Caldera side of the island). The Cycladic architecture stands out against the surroundings, with bright bougainvillea creeping up some of the facades as well as lots of palms, lush trees, and potted plants dotted about the grounds. The exteriors reflect the interiors as well, which echo the white and blue color palette and are simple in style. Guests tend to spend most of their time outdoors, and there are plenty of corners to relax in, be it around the attractive, oasis-like pool or perched at the poolside bar. Clientele here is a mix of couples and families with kids, plus the hotel is host to yoga and Pilates retreats that bring groups.

Location

Tranquil location is a seven-minute walk to Baxedes Beach

The hotel is situated on the northern part of Santorini island. The nearest beach doesn't see much action and is around a seven-minute walk down the road. It's a tranquil and quiet location, with not much in the immediate area. There are a handful of other hotels and a couple of dining options within a 10- to 15-minute walk of the property. The tourist-friendly coastal town of Oia, with plenty of dining options, Caldera sunset views, and boutique shops, is about a 15-minute drive away or a beautiful 50-minute hike. Fira, the island's capital, is a 20-minute drive away and also has a huge concentration of shops and restaurants. Popular island attractions include the village of Imerovigli (20-minute drive) and the Akrotiri ruins and Red Beach (40-minute drive). The Santorini is about a 22-minute drive from the hotel. The ferry port is 36 minutes away.

Rooms

Simple rooms, most with lovely furnished outdoor spaces, but amenities are dated and bathrooms are tiny

Rooms are simple in style, featuring a soothing color scheme of white and blue hues, with doors, windows, and wooden furnishings painted the powdery blue shade found throughout Santorini. Colorful art on the white walls adds some vibrancy to the spaces, which are clean and simply furnished in a traditional style. Beds are topped with white linens or patterned bedspreads that look a bit dated, as do some of the amenities that come standard, including small flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, electric kettles, safes, and air-conditioning. Wi-Fi is also free.

Larger rooms have sofas and kitchenettes with two-burner stoves, electric kettles, mini-fridges, sinks, and dish-/cooking-ware. Note that some units have lofted beds that are accessed by a staircase. Some rooms have lovely outdoor spaces such as terraces or patios that are furnished with loungers and other seating. Bathrooms are tiny and can feel cramped, plus fixtures are in need of an update. They're equipped with tiny curtained showers and wall-mounted soap.

Features

Outdoor pool and kids' pool, poolside bar and restaurant using organic produce from gardens, and yoga space

One of the highlights here is the hotel's attractive outdoor pool, which is surrounded by chic padded loungers and umbrellas. There's also a kids' pool, while a poolside bar and restaurant provide refreshments. The restaurant culls organic local produce from the hotel's own garden and serves traditional Greek fare. Buffet breakfast is available in the mornings (for an extra fee) and includes breads, Greek yogurt, fresh seasonal fruits, and homemade fig jam. Wi-Fi is free throughout, as is on-site parking. There's a massage room where guests can indulge in treatments, plus there's a covered outdoor yoga space -- the property is host to retreats throughout the year.
