Scene
Charming family-run hotel scenically set on a lakeshore with elegant, traditional interiors
This family-run hotel is housed in
a lovely 19th-century country home situated on the shores of Loch
Faskally, with three acres of gardens and grassy lawns surrounding the
two-story white building. The scenic location affords beautiful views of the
water and wooded hills that guests can take in from various benches scattered
throughout the property. Traditional interiors are strewn with floral carpets
paving the way through various common rooms filled with antique-style pieces and
a large assortment of artwork, all courtesy of Scottish
artists. The decor might not suit all tastes, as some might find the dizzying
floral carpets and plush curtains a bit fusty, but the spaces are elegant and
inviting, with lots of fireplaces imbuing rooms with coziness. There are plenty
of comfortable armchairs to settle into, and guests can linger over books from the hotel’s
vast collection of more than 3,000, either in the lovely main lounge, where a
beautiful honeycomb ceiling complements a pastel color palette, or in the sun
lounge with gorgeous panoramic views of the gardens and lake. The property
attracts a mature clientele, and so might not be ideal for those traveling with young children.
