Bottom Line

The 160-room Laguna Vista Garden Resort is a lush oasis in Nabq Bay, offering a quick walk to the beach, four lagoon pools, a buffet restaurant, and a swim-up bar. A spa, pools, dining and cocktails, and tennis and volleyball courts are available at the sister hotel. The luxury property's hut chalets are decorated in brick interiors, and have mini-fridges and pretty garden terraces. A drawback, though, is the lack of Wi-Fi in rooms. The Laguna Vista Beach Resort offers Wi-Fi in the lobby and on some room terraces.

Laguna Vista Beach Resort

Scene

Sinai garden hotel with tropical landscaping, lagoon pools, and nearby luxury facilities

The Laguna Vista Garden Resort delivers a cozy, luxurious atmosphere with affordable prices, close Nabq Bay beach access, and a nearby fully-equipped sister hotel. The resort’s lobby has an Egyptian vibe with a carved-stone front desk, a domed ceiling, comfy furniture, and stone walls. A terrace offers stylish rattan furniture and views of the lush property. Tiki lamps line the small walkways lined with colorful bougainvillea, palms, fountains, and thatched-roofed chalets. Four lagoon pools -- including the main pool, a sporting pool, a kiddy pool, a hot tub, and lazy lake -- are offered on-site. Cushioned lounge chairs and white umbrellas are on the sand-colored stone deck, surrounded by plenty of palm trees. There’s a charming swim-up pool bar with submerged stools, a bridge, and fountains. The property draws lots of families, due partly to the kids' club and live entertainment amphitheater available at sister hotel Laguna Vista Beach Resort across the street.

Location

Tucked in Sinai near the shores of Nabq Bay

The resort’s Nabq Bay location offers a convenient seven-minute walk to the beach. The sister hotel, Laguna Vista Beach Resort, is across the street. McDonald's, KFC, TGI Fridays, Starbucks, and Hard Rock Cafe are directly outside the hotel. It’s a 15- to 20-minute drive to the Sharm El Sheikh International Airport. A few minutes away on foot is the Sharm Touring Egypt, with day tours. It’s about a 50-minute drive to the Ras Mohamed National Park. Ancient manuscripts are available at Saint Catherine's Monastery, three hours away by car. Driving to Naama Bay takes 25 to 30 minutes.

Rooms

Lovely thatched-roofed chalets with mini-fridges and garden terraces

Thatched, circular rooftops give chalets a charming Egyptian vibe from the exterior. Interior brick mantels, domed ceiling designs, and recessed lighting create a welcoming environment. But some furnishings -- like old tube-style TVs and beds without headboards -- are dated and sometimes a bit weathered. The resort offers 128 normal chalets, six wheelchair accessible chalets, and 32 family chalets. All chalets have air-conditioning, TVs, mini-fridges, safes, tile floors, and rattan furniture. Casually furnished terraces (covered and uncovered) face the tropical gardens. Cribs are available on request. Marble bathrooms have modern fixtures, stall showers, and magnifying mirrors. Wi-Fi isn’t available in rooms.

Casual buffet dining, a pool bar, meeting rooms, and loads of sports

The Habiba main restaurant is bright and spacious thanks to large windows and tall stone ceilings; the buffet, complete with carved fruit designs, can also be eaten outdoors on a thatched-roofed terrace with ceiling fans. The pool bar -- with submerged stools -- is casual and shaded by a single white umbrella. The sister hotel also offers four restaurants and four bars. Two meeting rooms are also available at the sister hotel; the Amaraya holds up to 350 people, while the Amaraya Two fits up to 30 people. There are also three PC computers in the business center, which provide faxing and copying services on request. Guests can head to the sister property to use the tennis, volleyball, and squash courts; play ping-pong and soccer; and swim in the lagoon and kiddy pools. The sister resort also has a spa -- with an indoor pool, hot tub, sauna, steam room, and hair/nail salon -- and a small gym with modern cardio equipment and weights.
