The Santa Grand Hotel Little India is a value hotel right in the middle of Singapore’s Little India neighborhood. The only other area of interest beyond the location are the 20 modern -- albeit small -- rooms with clean and contemporary bathrooms and top-notch amenities like flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, and kettles. Unfortunately, there’s not much else to the hotel beyond free Wi-Fi, so don’t expect a gym or even breakfast. While budget travelers will appreciate the modern room digs and low prices at Santa Grand Hotel Little India, there are budget hotels in Singapore that offer more value for the same price. As an alternative, the Harbour Ville Hotel provides free cell phones per room, a gym, and snack bar for around the same rate.
Scene
Budget hotel with no public spaces and a clientele of couples and families
There’s not much happening at the Santa Grand Hotel Little India. It’s just a simple, white hotel with budget rates. There are no other public spaces beyond a small lobby that has a glossy front desk and an elevator. The only place that travelers could interact would be at the restaurant connected to the hotel or perchance in the elevators. The hotel attracts travelers looking for a simple budget stay, and sees a lot of couples and families who appreciate the Little India location.
Location
Located in Singapore's Little India, about a 12-minute drive to downtown Singapore
One of the biggest highlights of this property is its location in Singapore’s vibrant Little India neighborhood filled with Indian shops, restaurants, temples, and a heritage center. Though there are loads of culturally engaging places to see in Little India, the hotel is just a 15-minute walk to Chinatown for further exploration. It’s a 26-minute walk to Suntec City, a large shopping complex, or 10 minutes to City Square Mall. Though downtown Singapore and other main attractions like the Gardens by the Bay and Universal Studios are a bit too far to reach on foot, the Little India metro stop is a seven-minute walk away. It’s a 20-minute drive to Changi Airport Singapore.
Rooms
Small and contemporary rooms with mini-fridges and kettles
Santa Grand Hotel Little India may have skipped on features and a public atmosphere, but it does pretty well when it comes to the guest rooms, especially for a budget hotel. The rooms have a simple contemporary design. It’s a bit spartan with a neutral color scheme and dark wooden beds, but they are clean and pleasant in design. All rooms feature flat-screen TVs with cables, mini-fridges, kettles, air-conditioning, and safes. As you’ll find at many budget hotels in Asia, some rooms lack windows and all units are fairly small, which isn’t ideal for storing lots of luggage. Bathrooms have sleek glass showers with waterfall shower heads, toiletries, and hairdryers. Take note that during our visit, we noticed a strong smell of food in the rooms from the Indian restaurant attached to the building.
Features
No amenities beyond free Wi-Fi and laundry service upon request
Santa Grand Hotel Little India has almost no amenities to speak of. There’s no pool, gym, or even breakfast available. While, the hotel lacks a restaurant, there is an Indian restaurant attached to the building for those who want quick access to food. About the only features available are free Wi-Fi and laundry service upon request.
