Tagoro Family & Fun

Spread across a former apartment complex that was transformed into a resort in the 2000s, Tagoro Family & Fun Costa Adeje is a busy family property that attracts lots of Spaniards loyal to the Tagoro brand. It has a bustling lobby and pool area that has the type of noisy, high-energy vibe that one might expect at a property that gets lots of little kids. This breezy resort is spread across a series of seven Spanish Colonial stucco two-story buildings painted in a pale ochre hue, with lots of built-in planters in common areas filled with succulent plants. Most of the rooms are centered around a busy pool area, though there are some rooms in a side section of the hotel that's filled with colorful blossoming trees and shrubs. In fact, the landscaping across the property is strikingly gorgeous and really adds an extra layer of vibrance to the resort. Note that while there are no porters, the hotel does have ramps and lifts throughout and some accessible rooms are available. 

The hotel takes a vague stab at an Arthurian vibe (for example, there are a few special themed rooms for kids named Merlin Rooms and a Camelot Kids' Club), but the overall look and feel is squarely Canarian, and were it not for the constant noise and commotion expected of a family-oriented property, the hotel could position itself as quite the upscale treat. However, given the sheer number of families that stay here and the heavy emphasis on keeping kids happy and entertained, it's not the best place for adults to go for R&R. 

The resort is located in a hilly area north of Costa Adeje, across the street from a supermarket and about a 15-minute walk inland (and uphill) from Fanabe Beach. It's about a five-minute drive or a 20-minute walk downhill to the edge of the city center, where travelers will find lots of restaurants and shopping opportunities, including the island's much celebrated Mango outlet. The Aqualand water park is around 20 minutes away on foot, while Siam Mall and Siam Park take five to 10 minutes to reach by car. Getting to Playa de las Americas and Los Cristianos requires around the same amount of drive time. The airport takes around 15 minutes to reach (or about an hour on bus number 711).

Rooms at this hotel range from entry-level Double Rooms that measure 148 Square Meters (157 square feet) and sleep two adults and two children clear up to Double Rooms that measure 80 square meters (262 square feet) and offer two bedrooms that can sleep four adults and two children. In terms of decor, all rooms are more or less identical, with dark-blue drapes, sofas, bed runners, and throw cushions, light-wood furniture and headboards. Dark-gray accent walls behind the beds are decorated with long photo prints of turquoise-hued sea. All rooms run big, owing largely to the fact that they were once apartments, and most have separate living rooms with sofa beds and bedrooms. All have mini-fridges, kettles, and flat-screen TVs. Superior Rooms have jetted tubs and artificial grass on their balconies. About 20-percent of rooms have walk-in showers, the rest have shower/tub combos. 

Standard Rooms and Family Premium Rooms (which add PlayStation consoles) are on the ground floor and guests with compromised mobilities or strollers might find these rooms a little easier to access than other categories, which require going up stairs. However, some of these have terraces with grass that open directly out into the common areas, without any barriers, so kids could run off if left unsupervised. There are also five Merlin Kids' Rooms, all with brightly colored kids' play areas in the living rooms along with beanbags, toys, and PlayStations (plus dragon and knight murals on the walls). Although there is often loud music blasting down by the pool, rooms remain relatively quiet due to thick glass balcony doors and good soundproofing overall.

The hotel is all-inclusive only, with all three meals served buffet-style in the lower-level Alsios Buffet Restaurant just off the central pool area. The package includes alcohol for those over 18 (minors are given white wristbands while adults get orange ones) along with snacks and an afternoon coffee and cake hour. The variety is pretty good, with show cooking at lunch and dinner plus various international themed nights. There's also a bar near the main pool with self-serve drinks with a foosball and pool table behind it plus a second bar by the Splash Pool. In the wintertime, the hotel opens Las Canadas bar with entertainment and cocktails indoors; the rest of the year, evening entertainment is staged outside, right by the pool.

The hotel offers three pools: a main pool at the center of the property, surrounded by lounge chairs; a second, much smaller pool at the far end of the resort; and a third kid-focused Splash Pool with a lazy river feature and all sorts of fountains and a small slide. Other family-friendly amenities include a playground with slides, swings, and a play structure. The Camelot Kids' Club features a ball pit with a slide, video games, and an arts-and-crafts areas with a rotation of daily activities including watercolor painting and coloring. Parents can drop kids over the age 4 off at the club free of charge, and younger children are welcome to hangout with parental supervision. There's also a mini-disco for kids most evenings. 

There's no fitness center, but there is a tennis court and an adjacent sports area for playing basketball and soccer. Equipment can be borrowed from the front desk. Other features include a salon featuring massages, nail services, permanent makeup, and even ear candling. The resort doesn't offer parking, but it's usually pretty easy to find a spot in the neighborhood. The hotel offers daily transfers to the beach and local shopping areas (except on Sundays). Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel and there are a couple of internet terminals that guests can use in the lobby for a fee.
