Walhalla Hotel

The Walhalla Hotel occupies a large six-story corner building on a busy street facing the River Sihl. Interiors are functional and modern; a neutral backdrop of white walls and floor tiles are colorfully accented with green and purple sofas in the lobby. The sleek blond-wood front desk pairs well with accent walls painted in bright green and burgundy shades. Public spaces are contemporary and uncluttered, like the bright breakfast room filled with wooden tables and colorful collage-style art on the walls. This spot is popular with tourists as well as business travelers drawn by the meeting facilities and the convenient location near the train and bus stations.

The Walhalla Hotel is situated in central Zurich close to transportation links, tourist sights, restaurants, and shopping areas. There’s a bus and tram stop right outside the front door, while the bus terminal directly opposite the hotel serves as a hub for long-distance buses servicing destinations across Europe as well as city tour buses. The main train station is a seven-minute walk from the property. The Swiss National Museum is a five-minute walk away, and Kunsthaus is an eight-minute drive or nine minutes on public transportation. Zurich airport is a 20-minute drive away.

Rooms at the Walhalla Hotel are clean and functional with pleasant decor; some rooms are simple and understated with wooden furniture and abstract photographic prints on white walls that break up the monotony, while others are decorated in a colorful, funky style that includes carpets covered in gray pixelated patterns, bright red curtains, and boldly colored furniture like magenta shelves or royal-purple stools. In some, photo murals of the Las Vegas sign loom large, but have been altered to read, "Welcome to fabulous Zurich." All rooms have a tablet computer uploaded with tourist information available for guests’ use as well as flat-screen TVs with DVD players, coffee- and tea-making facilities, and hairdryers and toiletries in the bathrooms. Bathrooms are clean and modern and outfitted with either walk-in showers or shower/tub combos, though some are quite small. The rooms are not air-conditioned and can be uncomfortable during hot summer days. Light sleepers may want to avoid the street-facing rooms, because of the busy bus terminal across the street and passing trams. 

Breakfast is included in some room rates or available for an extra fee; it's served in a bright and spacious breakfast room. There's also a small shop next to the reception desk selling drinks, snacks, postcards, and souvenirs. Guests can make use of the business center in the lobby which has a printer, fax, and photocopier. The hotel has six conference rooms that can accommodate up to 25 people. Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel, and free coffee is available in the lobby.
