Situated a little farther way from the tourist-crowded beaches in the heart of Clearwater Beach, this hotel is more secluded.The nine-story building has a Mediterranean-style roof, with all of the suites situated on the top floor. The lobby has a white-tiled floor and includes living-room style sitting areas with modern furniture in various color combinations (some are red and some are mint -- there’s not a uniform color palate).The outdoor pool is small for a resort of this size and can sometimes get crowded, so many visitors opt for the beach.

The Sheraton Sand Key is located on its own stretch of white-sand beach next to a lovely park (Sand Key Park), where there are nature trails and opportunities to view wildlife. Located over a short causeway from the tourist-centric area on Clearwater Beach, Sand Key has much less traffic. While there are some restaurants within walking distance (such as Rusty’s Bistro on the property and Backwaters nearby), most travelers find they need a car to explore nearby areas on Clearwater Beach, Fort Desoto Park, and downtown St. Petersburg.
