Pros
- Beautiful, lush grounds with tropical plants everywhere
- Very private guest rooms, each in its own bungalow
- Big rooms all have outdoor showers and amazing decks
- Charming wine bar
- Well-designed spa with some great treatment rooms
- Free Wi-Fi and free breakfast
- Free calls to U.S./Canada from lobby and wine bar phones
Cons
- Pool is small
- Some bungalows are a long walk from hotel facilities
- 3- to 4-hour drive from main airport
- Too close to nature (and critters) for some
Bottom Line
The beautiful Arenal Nayara's 44 individual bungalows, restaurant, wine bar, and spa are all tucked into incredibly lush grounds. Some of the amenities are small (pool, spa, fitness center), but guests come here for the private bungalows with special touches like an outdoor garden shower and a deck with a hot tub and hammock. It's more luxurious than nearby Arenal Kioro, but Kioro's rooms have better volcano views. Couples may also want to consider the adult-only sister property next door, Nayara Springs.

Scene
Private and upscale, with individual bungalows tucked away behind lush tropical landscaping
Along the stone paths that wind through the incredibly lush, tropical flora here are individual bungalows or casitas, tucked away behind the trees and plants, each one a separate guest room. The casitas range from great to fantastic, and each has an outdoor shower, views of Arenal volcano, and a wrap-around wooden deck with a hammock and hot tub.
There's not a ton to do, but one gets the idea that this is the type of hotel where people come to enjoy each other's... company. Kids are allowed here, however, unlike at even more romantic and luxurious sister property Nayara Springs. There's one restaurant and a small, charming wine bar; a small pool with a bar; and a lovely but barebones spa comprised of only treatment rooms.
