Next door -- a four-minute walk away -- there’s a strip mall with a few stores and fast-food joints, plus a small dinner theater with fun shows. The hotel is just across the highway from Southern Methodist University, a seven-minute walk from the football stadium on the edge of the campus. The hotel is close to Park Cities, which is an affluent area comprising Highland Park and University Park. The George W. Bust Presidential Library and Museum is a 15-minute walk or four-minute drive. It is a five-minute walk to the Mockingbird train station and bus stop, for convenient access to the Dallas/Fort Worth area, though most visitors drive or take taxis/car services to get around town. There are many sights within a 10-minute drive, including the Dallas Museum of Art, Dallas World Aquarium, and Reunion Tower’s panoramic city view from the observation deck and rotating restaurant. It is also a 10-minute drive to the JFK memorial plaza and nearby Sixth Floor museum for a haunting exhibit on the history of Kennedy’s presidency and assassination. Decor is warm, featuring brown and ivory tones and Texas themed artwork -- including on the shade over the window and in the bathroom. All rooms have a 55-inch flat-screen TV with a DVD player, minibar, and a docking station for devices. A coffeemaker doesn't come standard, but it can be requested along with a microwave. Some rooms are specially cleaned and include hypoallergenic bedding and an air-purification system for extra comfort. Suites with a separate living space are also available. Sleek bathrooms have large vessel sinks, extra counter space, and a shower/tub combo with a curtain. Some upgraded rooms have a deep whirlpool tub instead. Also provided are a hairdryer and free toiletries consisting of Diptyque soap, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, and lotion. On the downside, some guests have reported noise from the nearby freeway, so it's worth requesting a room away from the road.
