There are 699 rooms at this luxurious four-and-a-half-pearl hotel set in Hong Kong’s Mong Kok area. It’s a great base for exploring the western part of Kowloon, as there's easy access to the metro, traditional markets and food stalls, as well as the modern shopping malls for which the area is famous. Guest rooms are smart, modern, and spacious by Hong Kong standards, with great city views and stylish bathrooms. The hotel has a lot to do on site, including a huge pool, two restaurants, and a fantastic cocktail bar. Scene

Large, busy, and bustling modern hotel

Scene Royal Plaza Hotel

The Royal Plaza hotel is a huge 19-story modern building and the proportions are large throughout. The lobby is a vast space filled with shiny metal, glass, and marble. It is permanently busy and noisy, and one of the few complaints that guests have here is that checking in and out can take a long time due to the sheer number of guests. The hotel has a grand and contemporary feel throughout, and the architecture makes the most of the fabulous city views with floor-to-ceiling windows wherever possible. The views from the ballroom are particularly breathtaking. Guests here come from all corners of the world, and include large numbers of both business and leisure travelers. The hotel is also child friendly, providing connecting rooms or family suites where requested.

Location

In a bustling area with plenty of amenities nearby

The Royal Plaza hotel is located in Mong Kok, on the western part of the Kowloon Peninsula. It is a noisy and hectic area that never sleeps and is one of the major shopping areas in Hong Kong. The hotel is located right above the Mong Kok East Metro station, making it very convenient for travel throughout the city. It's also right next to the large, modern MOKO shopping mall, which is home to restaurants, karaoke bars, a cinema, and a number of high-end and mid-range shops. Monkok Station, with connections to mainland China, is also attached to the hotel. The area is ideal for those who want to get out and explore Hong Kong, as there are many authentic markets and food stalls lining the streets in this neighborhood -- the Ladies Market is a 10-minute walk from the hotel, while the Goldfish Market is 12 minutes away on foot. Hong Kong International Airport is around a half-hour away by car depending on traffic, or an hour by mass transit.

Rooms

Spacious and contemporary rooms with city views

Rooms Royal Plaza Hotel

There are no less than 11 different room types to choose from at the Royal Plaza Hotel, from Plaza Deluxe to Royal Club Suite. Rooms are decorated in chic gray tones that create a sober, sophisticated atmosphere. This includes subtly patterned accent walls or statement headboards, carpets, and sleek contemporary furniture in chestnut tones. All rooms have free Wi-Fi, a flat-screen TV with satellite channels, iPod dock, safe, and minibar. Higher category rooms have Nespresso coffeemakers. The rooms are large by Hong Kong standards -- starting at 350 square feet (33 square meters) -- and have either a king sized bed or two queen sized. Connecting rooms are available on request. Bathrooms are particularly striking, with chic dark gray marble walls, floors, and countertops, plus contemporary fixtures and shower/tub combos or glass shower cubicles and separate soaking tubs -- in many cases the bath is visible to the rest of the room.

Guests staying in Royal Club level rooms have access to free breakfast, afternoon tea, and evening cocktails, as well as free coffee, tea and snacks at any time in the lounge. They are also entitled to two hours’ free use of the executive meeting room
