Scene

A fabulous luxury setting: adult-only boutique hotel with elegant, modern decor

This nine-suite, adult-only, luxury boutique hotel has a tranquil, high-end atmosphere. Glossy surfaces in cream tones, Swarovski crystals, and the occasional Baroque-inspired touch appear throughout -- and all decor is hand-selected by the owners with incredible attention to detail. Everything from the intricate wallpaper designs, to the marble-and-quilted leather reception desk were made bespoke for the hotel. Uniquely crafted features such as the mirror-and-steel four poster bed of the Tempesta Suite, and the dreamy velvet swing in the Nuvola Suite, add genuinely unique touches. The hotel’s prime location in the majestic Piazza Navona -- complete with outstanding views of its Renaissance-era fountain and church -- further adds to the upmarket vibe. The lively vibe can be soaked up in front-facing suites, of which there are all but one, while quality soundproofing cuts out noise at night. With a one-to-one ratio of staff to suites, the personalized service is top notch, and hailed by guests as the highlight. Suites are customized in advance, from the contents of the minibar down to the type and number of pillows preferred on the bed. It’s a luxury experience that warrants its price tag, and primarily attracts couples from the U.S., China, and Russia.

Location

Right on Piazza Navona, a 10- to 20-minute walk to most attractions

Lifestyle Suites Rome’s prime location right on Piazza Navona is one of its strongest features -- it’s just opposite the iconic Fountain of Four Rivers, with plenty of shops and cafes all around. Most major attractions are within a 20-minute walk, including the iconic Pantheon and the fresh local market stalls of Campo de’ Fiori, both about five minutes from the hotel on foot. Trevi Fountain and Piazza Venezia are both about a 13-minute walk from the hotel, while the Spanish Steps can be reached in 17 minutes on foot. Both the Colosseum and the Vatican are about a 30-minute walk from the hotel, or a 10-minute drive. Ciampino and Fiumicino Airports both take 30 minutes to reach via taxi.

Rooms

A collection of nine individually designed suites with ample luxury amenities and high-tech features

Clocking in at a minimum of 430 square feet, the spacious suites here are individually designed with unique themes and bespoke furnishings. All come with ample luxury amenities, including twice-daily housekeeping and turndown service with chocolates, customized minibars, queen or king beds with a pillow menus, fully integrated temperature control and mood lighting touch consoles, large flat-screen TVs with international channels, bathrobes and slippers, Molton Brown toiletries, soundproofing, and free Wi-Fi and safe access. Bathrooms vary according to the theme of the suite, but all have rainfall showers, and some have special feature tubs. Three suites include a small balcony, and all but one face picturesque Piazza Navona.Though suites lack tea- and coffee-making facilities, any drinks from the in-house cafe menu can be ordered to the room for free. Suites are grouped according to size: entry-level rooms range from 430 to 480 square feet, while higher-category rooms range between 540 to 640 square feet. The Rubino -- named after its ruby color scheme, including a two-person shower made from the same red Italian marble used by the Pope to decorate select Catholic churches -- is a whopping 860 square feet. Each themed suite is entirely bespoke: from the jetted tub in the Tempesta Suite with fully customizable mood lighting and a Bluetooth sound system, to the freestanding velvet hammock and 16th century ceiling frescos of the Oggetti Suite, to the bioethanol fireplace and hammam-style shower for two of Salotto 93. Staff are careful to glean as much information as they can from the guest in advance of arrival, and select the suite that best suits their character and preferences.

Features

Limited, but excellent, including a chic rooftop terrace and delicious breakfast with fresh products

Lifestyle Suites Rome’s facilities are admittedly limited for a luxury hotel of this caliber -- but what it does have certainly adds appeal. The chic rooftop terrace has fantastic views overlooking Piazza Navona, not to mention immaculate white patio furniture in sleek geometric shapes and a sun-lounging canopy bed for couples. There’s bar service in the summer, and it’s an ideal spot for breakfast in nice weather. The free breakfast buffet is a sumptuous affair, with a good variety of handmade cakes and pastries, fresh-baked croissants, carefully selected savory dishes, and ample hot items cooked to order including eggs Benedict, omelets, waffles, and French toast. Prosecco is available to wash it all down, and the hotel is careful to include a balanced selection of both local and international items. Daily afternoon treats are delivered to each suite to greet guests when they’ve finished sightseeing, and the outdoor smoking terrace is fitted with a glass vacuum door to prevent smoke from wafting back indoors. There’s free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel, and paid parking is available at a garage a few minutes’ walk from the hotel.
