Piccolo Borgo

A countryside vibe prevails around the hotel's well-manicured grounds, and tall trees and bushes around the property provide privacy and a sense of seclusion. A long, wide stone driveway leads to the main reception area, where ceramic tiles dress the floors, and contribute to the country feel. The lobby has a small cafe bar and a beautiful wooden spiral staircase that leads to the second floor lounge. In the dining area, marble floors give a luxe look. The pool, open in the warmer months, is surrounded by plenty of lounges and tables, and has a bar.

Located to the south of Rome, the hotel is about a 30-minute drive to the city center. White Gallery, a high-end boutique, and Euroma2, Italy’s largest shopping center, are within a 15-minute drive. The hotel provides free, although limited, shuttle service to and from the Cinecitta metro station, from where guests can reach the city center in about 30 minutes -- the Colosseum, Roman Forum, and the Basilica of St. John Lateran are 10 stops away on the MEA line, and Vatican City and St. Peter's Square are 18 stops away. The Capannelle train station, with a connection to Ciampino Airport, is within a five-minute walk of the hotel. Parking at the hotel is free. 

The converted 18th-century property offers a range of rooms. Standard Rooms, with ceramic floors, Mediterranean-style furnishings, and private patios, feel homey. The beige-tiled bathrooms have stand-in showers, towel heaters, and hairdryers. Two of the Standard Rooms include kitchens and private gardens, making them suitable for longer stays. The new wing, added during the 2012 renovation, houses the more elegant Suites, with velvet bedspreads and drapes, cushioned headboards, and parquet floors. Bathrooms are large, and come with toiletries. Deluxe Rooms have jetted tubs. All rooms have free Wi-Fi, air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, safes, and minibars.

The Piccolo Borgo has two dining areas, one alfresco and one indoor. Guests staying in Standard Rooms pay a fee for the daily buffet breakfast of hot and cold items -- breakfast is included for guests staying in all other rooms. There's a nice bar next to the seasonal outdoor pool. The hotel also offers free shuttle service to and from Cinecitta metro station, although service is limited. Bike rental is also available for a fee. Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel.
