Scene

Historic, romantic property -- a Peruvian cultural monument -- that fuses classic charm with modern design touches

Built in 1927, this is a romantic, business-geared property that has been declared a Peruvian cultural monument, and there are 300+ pieces of celebrated artwork on loan here. The grand, colonial-style cream building’s dome-like entrance has a red-carpet approach, fronted by symmetrical palm trees and hedges. The extravagantly decorated lobby retains original charm, including beautiful dark-wood ceiling beams, suspended chandelier-style downlighting, and a mix of posh cream-and-gray marble flooring and ornate red-and-black carpet. Wood features heavily, including in the classic-feeling Perroquet Restaurant and the moody English Bar. The bright, airy Salon Vitrales has a skylight roof and white marble flooring, and the well-tended grounds sport a secret-garden feel, especially around the plunge pool. Guests are a mix of well-heeled couples, families, and business travelers.

  • 24 minutes to Cercado de Lima historic district by car
  • 30 minutes to Jorge Chavez International Airport by car
  • 35 minutes to Cathedral of Lima by car

Rooms

Spacious and stylish rooms with gorgeous bathrooms; some with whirlpool tubs

Spacious, stylish rooms fuse classic charm with modern conveniences. Decor sports beige-brown carpets, large dark-wood windows, and neutral floor-to-ceiling curtains. Plush beds feature Beautyrest mattresses and striking floral headboards against dark-wood paneled accent walls. Freestanding bedside tables and large marble-topped desks are stylish. Pricier rooms add connected lounges with elegant sofas and armchairs, while whopping 1,615-square-foot (150-square-meter) Presidential Suites have separate living rooms. Some Governor Rooms, and all Presidential Suites, have balconies; most rooms have pleasant views.Amenities include air-conditioning, large flat-screen TVs, phones, free Wi-Fi, safes, minibars, robes, slippers, extensive miniature toiletries (by Algotherm in most rooms, and Clarins in the priciest categories), hairdryers, and irons and ironing boards. Evening turndown service is a luxurious touch. Palatial bathrooms sport cream-beige marble walls and floors, sleek gray accent walls, and large, freestanding wood-framed vanities with white-gray marble countertops and modern sinks. All have spacious walk-in showers with rainfall showerheads. Pricier categories also have soaking tubs, and whirlpool tubs in some Governor Rooms and all Governor Deluxe Suites and Presidential Suites.

The all-day Los Vitrales lobby bar is popular for afternoon tea, and has regular live music. The well-stocked English Bar offers drinks and light meals from lunchtime until the wee hours. The breakfast buffet, though lavish, isn’t always included in room rates. For business travelers, 10 contemporary meeting rooms can host up to 600 attendants.
