Hotel Diamar

Hotel Diamar is housed in a drab, seven-floor modern building. The reception area is fairly nondescript, and while the restaurant and game room and lounge have some visual appeal, they feel a bit institutional. Still, the eatery has cheery yellow tablecloths and rows of white globe pendants hanging from the ceiling, and there's a mint-green accent wall in the lounge with a few Asian-themed prints. With no on-site leisure facilities, guests are often across the street at the beach, out on the town visiting sights, or having dinner around the marina or Charco de San Gines lagoon. The hotel attracts mostly couples here for leisure pursuits.  

Hotel Diamar is in Arrecife, the capital of Lanzarote in the Canary Islands, about a three-minute drive from the junction of LZ-2 and LZ-3 roads. The property across the street from Reducto Beach, and there are several restaurants, bars, and shops are a short walk from the hotel. However, travelers will find more options in city center and around the marina, about a five-minute drive or a 15-minute walk east. 

The 16th-century Castle of San Gabriel is situated on an island connected to the mainland by Las Bolas Bridge, and it features superb city and ocean views. It’s a five-minute drive or 15-minute walk from the hotel, as is Charco de San Gines lagoon and its surrounding pedestrian quarter packed with restaurants. It's roughly a 10-minute drive to Rancho Texas Lanzarote Park, which has water slides and a zoo. The Calle Rambla Medular/Calle Triana bus stop is a 10-minute walk, and the main bus station Estacion Guaguas is a five-minute drive or 15-minute walk from the hotel. Lanzarote Airport is a quick five-minute drive away.

Guest rooms at Hotel Diamar are spacious, clean, and well-maintained, with a functional, contemporary look. Wooden headboards and side tables with a maple finish add warmth, and neutral decor throughout is saved from total blandness by the dashes of color in the wall art, curtains, and upholstery. There are rooms that add balconies, some of which offer prime ocean views. All units feature flat-screen TV, minibars, and free Wi-Fi, and they lack kettles and there's a fee to use safes. Bathrooms are tidy and bright, with shower/tub combos and hairdryers. Ocean-facing rooms get ample natural light, but some interior rooms are a bit dark. 

Hotel Diamar doesn't have any standouts among its features, but there's enough offered for a comfortable stay. The sand at Reducto Beach is clean and the water is generally calm, and visitors can rent sun loungers and parasols at the beach. The hotel's on-site restaurant serves a hot breakfast buffet with standard American fare for a fee, and regional cuisine for lunch and dinner. Half-board plans are available. There's also a cafe and an evening bar with sunset views, cocktails, and light bites. Other amenities include a game room with a billiards table, meeting rooms, bicycle rental (for a fee), a 24-hour front desk, and free nearby parking. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout.
