This 319-room hotel is centrally located in Downtown Monterey, connected via sky-bridge to the Convention Center and a few blocks from Fisherman’s Wharf. The airy rooms are less generic than what one would expect from a mid-range chain hotel, but some could use an update. It is a perfectly adequate hotel, but guests might feel nickel-and-dimed (there are fees for Wi-Fi and valet parking), and it is certainly a bit pricey for what it offers: a decent-size pool, a nice fitness center, and a couple standard dining options on-site. Book a room on the top floors for better views and more light.

The hotel is located next door to the Monterey Convention Center, in the heart of downtown, and within walking distance to many restaurants and shops. The beaches and the oceanfront trails are an easy walk away, as is popular Fisherman’s Wharf.
Downtown Monterey boasts a unique mix of 18th- to 19th-century Spanish Colonial buildings, along with dozens of stores and dining options, which draws crowds from April to November. It is also where those looking for some nightlife will probably end up after the sun sets.
