Bottom Line

The Tuscany on Grace Bay is a superb, four-pearl property located on gorgeous Grace Bay Beach. Its 30, three-bedroom suites offer tons of space, luxurious furnishings, and fantastic ocean views. (Units can also be closed off to create one- and two-bedroom suites, too.) As with many self-catering properties, Tuscany has minimal on-site amenities -- there's no spa, no restaurant, and no 24-hour reception; however, the property does have a stunning beach and a peaceful pool, plus guests don’t have far to go to reach shops and restaurants. Travelers looking for more on-site features might prefer Sands at Grace Bay

The Tuscany

Scene

Upscale condo-hotel with wonderful suites and a serene atmosphere

The Tuscany on Grace Bay’s architecture reflects its name, with arched windows, red roof tiles, and airy walkways creating an atmosphere reminiscent of a Mediterranean villa. Units are housed in a pair of five-floor buildings with deep yellow exteriors, which are connected by pathways framed by aloe vera plants, palm trees, and colorful bougainvillea. It’s a straight shot along the main pathway from reception, past the big pool, and down to the beach, a layout that channels attention to The Tuscany’s striking coastal views.

The property’s line-up of features is short, but quite good by condo-hotel standards. Limited on-site amenities make this property ideal for independent families and groups looking for a low-key alternative to the area’s buzzing resorts. The property tends to be quiet and, for better or worse, it can feel deserted at times. It’s not uncommon for guests to have the pool completely to themselves.

Location

Quiet beachfront location on the eastern end of Grace Bay

The Tuscany is one of the last properties to the east along Grace Bay, which means its strip of beachfront is typically less busy compared to more centrally located properties. Although it doesn’t have a restaurant, there are handful of dining options within walking distance, including at the neighboring Ocean Club Resort and across the road at the Provo Golf Club.

A five-minute drive along Grace Bay Road brings guests to the nearest grocery store, more restaurants, as well as the shops at Regent Village and Salt Mills. Caicos Conch Farm, a popular tourist attraction, can be reached in 10 minutes by car, and it’s an 18-minute drive to Providenciales International Airport.

Rooms

Large, modern units feature full kitchens and screened balconies with ocean views

All units at The Tuscany have three bedrooms, but they can be booked as one- or two-bedroom suites, with staff simply locking off any bedrooms that are not in use. While the open-concept layout is identical from unit to unit, each is individually owned and therefore the decor varies significantly. Furnishings are homey yet elegant in all units -- expect beachy prints featuring seashells or fish to be a common theme.

Full kitchens have granite countertops and include an excellent range of appliances, cookware, and cutlery. Living areas offer dining tables and roomy sitting areas with flat-screen TVs. Free Wi-Fi is standard, as are washers and dryers stored in tiny laundry rooms. Both the living area and master bedroom open onto ocean-view balconies enclosed by mosquito netting, and furnished with a pair of loungers in addition to an outdoor dining table. There are also narrow second balconies found off the living areas, which are unfurnished and mostly face toward the property’s other buildings.

Master bathrooms feature separate soaking tubs, glass-walled showers, and double sinks. The other two bedrooms both have en-suite bathrooms, which offer showers only or shower/tub combos. All bathrooms are stocked with bath products by The White Company as well as comfy bathrobes.

Features

Sleek lap pool and hot tub, direct access to Grace Bay Beach, and two BBQ grills

As is typical for self-catering properties, The Tuscany on Grace Bay doesn't provide the facilities found in neighboring resorts, but it does have all the basics for a fun-in-the-sun vacation. The property's 70-foot-long, rectangular pool is set in a pretty courtyard with a Mediterranean-influenced aesthetic. Surrounded by plain loungers with beach umbrellas, the pool area also includes a built-in hot tub. Its design is simple but attractive and crowds are rare.

A dramatic wooden pier leads between the property’s two buildings, down to Grace Bay Beach. Loungers and beach umbrellas are provided for guests on this wide sweep of white sands. Set at the eastern end of Grace Bay, it’s a lesser-trafficked section of this popular beach.

While there’s no restaurant on-site, there are two outdoor BBQs available for guest use. The concierge can also arrange for kitchen-stocking prior to guests' arrival, as well as in-room private chef dinners -- naturally, both services come at a fee.

The property also doesn’t include a spa, but spa services can be arranged at The Tuscany’s neighboring sister hotel, The Venetian, and two local spas -- Spa Sanay and Spa Tropique -- provide in-room treatments. The hotel’s fitness center is small but offers a respectable range of cardio equipment, circuit machines, and free weights (a mix of Cybex, Star Trac, and Matrix equipment). Private training can be arranged for a fee. Guests also have access to a tennis court that’s shared with The Venetian.

Babysitting services and airport transfers can both be arranged for an extra charge. Free bikes are available, and guests receive loaner cell phones to use during their stay. Free Wi-Fi is offered throughout, and there’s free self-parking on-site.
