Pros
- Beautiful oceanfront property in a great location
- Heated outdoor pool with Jacuzzi
- Furnished balconies with ocean views, and a working fireplace
- Great restaurant, sushi bar, pub, and acclaimed wine cellar
- Solid spa with couple’s treatments
- Romantic peek-a-boo bathrooms with deep Jacuzzi tubs
- Free Wi-Fi and parking
- Kayak rentals, marina, and eco-tours available on-site
Cons
- Tiny fitness center
- Walk-in showers are cramped, with outdated fixtures
- Tube TVs and CD players instead of flat-screens and iPod docks in some rooms
Bottom Line
The highly acclaimed wine cellar, the excellent restaurant and sushi bar, the great spa with couple’s treatments, and the warm decor throughout make this hotel an excellent pick for an upscale romantic getaway. Spacious rooms have large furnished balconies with ocean views, upscale peek-a-boo bathrooms with deep Jacuzzi tubs and Deserving Thyme toiletries, and sitting areas with working fireplaces. But considering the pool and the fitness center are small, and some rooms still have tube TVs and old CD players, prices seem a bit high (especially in the summer).

Right by the water in Brentwood Bay, a short drive to the airport and to quaint Victoria
The Brentwood Bay Resort and Spa is an oceanfront property located in northwestern Brentwood Bay, a residential town on the far eastern tip of Vancouver Island, a short drive from charming Victoria. There are a few restaurants and stores in the area, but the attractions here are mostly geared toward the active traveler -- there are several eco-tourism centers (one of them on-site) offering kayak rentals, fishing trips, boating, and whale sighting tours. The gorgeous Butchard Gardens, one of the world’s most beautiful parks, is a five-minute drive from the hotel.
This part of huge, wild Vancouver Island is home to a few great golf courses, dozens of ecological reserves, a few surprisingly good wineries, and several quaint towns such as Sidney, and most notably Victoria, the capital of British Columbia. This interesting city boasts wonderful attractions such as art galleries, museums, several entertainment venues, and parks. There are also excellent dining options, plenty of shops, and a lively nightlife.
