Hotel Sct. Thomas

Hotel Sct. Thomas has curb appeal, with an attractive five-story cream-colored building. The neo-classical facade points to its long history. At the turn of the century this was a residential building, with a hospital operating on the lower floor for many years. During World War II, the building was occupied by German forces. Since then, the building has been used as a hotel for the past 40 years, changing hands through three different owners. Today its public areas are well-maintained, with high ceilings, carpeted floors, and a bright lounge area with leather sofas and a few tables and chairs, and a few potted plants. It's a simple space, but the handmade paper lamp shades add an interesting and elegant touch to the decor. This is a small family-run hotel that is popular with business and leisure travelers on city breaks.

Hotel Sct. Thomas is centrally located in Copenhagen's theater district, close to tourist sights and within walking distance of the main train station. There are several cafes, restaurants, and bars nearby.

Hotel Sct Thomas' 60 rooms are bright and well-maintained with brown wall-to-wall carpeting, dark-brown furniture, and bed covers and curtains in tones of brown, olive green, and beige. It's cheery, but the competing patterns of broad stripes, brocade, and contemporary curlicues feel disjointed. Rooms tend to be on the small side, and the white-tile bathrooms are tiny and showers are cramped. All rooms include flat-screen TVs and free Wi-Fi (for guests who book via the hotel website). A downside is the lack of air-conditioning on hot summer days, and there are no coffee- and tea-making facilities available. Also, many guests complain that the single beds are too narrow.

Rooms include Singles, Doubles, and Triples. Superior Double Rooms include sofas or extra chairs and tables, while Family Rooms have double beds and two single beds, sleeping up to four. There's also a large, spacious, and bright three-bedroom apartment, which can sleep up to six. It includes an open-plan living and dining room with a dining table, sofa, and full kitchen.

Like many small urban properties, Hotel Sct. Thomas is short on extra features. A free cold breakfast buffet is available to guests who book directly via the hotel's website, including bread, jam, cereal, fresh fruit, cheese and cold cuts, sliced vegetables, and juice. Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel, but again only for guests with direct bookings. Private on-site parking is available to guests who book in advance (for an extra fee). The hotel has meeting rooms available, and bicycles can be rented. Tea and coffee is available throughout the day in the lounge.
