Bottom Line

The 250-room BEST WESTERN PREMIER Grand Canyon Squire Inn is a mid-range chain hotel popular with families and couples visiting the nearby Grand Canyon National Park. Spacious rooms (including interconnected rooms for groups) are decorated with a Southwestern theme and stocked with convenient kitchen gear. A buffet breakfast can get crowded (crowds are to be expected in this location) but gets good marks for hot and cold dishes. Other freebies include parking and Wi-Fi. The bowling alley and game room is an unusually fun touch, as is the small outdoor pool. There are plenty of restaurant options within walking distance of this convenient hotel.

Oyster Hotel Review

Best Western Premier Grand Canyon Squire Inn

Chain hotel with several buildings

BEST WESTERN PREMIER Grand Canyon Squire Inn does a nice job of incorporating Southwest flavor into the hotel's common areas. The lobby holds a large display of Native American artifacts along with large photographs of the Grand Canyon. There's a massive three-story diorama of a Grand Canyon scene in the lobby. Outside, the grounds include rock gardens, pine trees, and pedestrian foot bridges. Past guests have complained that some of the hotel rooms located in back buildings are far from the main lobby and restaurants. Breakfast and restaurants can get crowded during the busy season, but the property is pretty quiet during the day when most guests are visiting Grand Canyon National Park.

On Highway 180 in Tusayan (about one mile from the Grand Canyon National Park's front gate)

For visiting Grand Canyon National Park, the location doesn't get much more convenient than the BEST WESTERN PREMIER Grand Canyon Squire Inn, unless you're spending the money to stay in the park itself. The property is in Tusayan, a town built almost exclusively to cater to tourists visiting the park, which is about a traffic heavy 10-minute drive from the hotel. The neighborhood is well-lit and teeming with tourists, especially from March to October. You'll find a plethora of gas stations, family restaurants, a general store, and fast food options. Parking at the hotel is free and there's a free shuttle operated by the National Park Service which arrives every 20 minutes in Tusayan from May to September. It's a good way to avoid heavy traffic and paying for parking at the park.

More room than usual for a chain hotel and Keurig coffemakers

There are 250 rooms at the BEST WESTERN PREMIER Grand Canyon Squire Inn and each of them is more spacious than the average hotel room. The southwestern theme of the hotel is included in the rooms with black and white photos of the Grand Canyon on the wall, desert colors, and tribal prints. Microwaves, flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, and iPod docks are standard. Interconnected rooms are a nice option for families. Bathrooms have a single sink and shower/tub combos. Some rooms include a little vanity counter and mirror just outside the bathroom door. Views of the parking lot are uninspired. Past guests have complained about cleanliness issues.
