Bottom Line
The 511-room Omni San Diego Hotel is a solid four-pearl pick in the Gaslamp Quarter, with an outdoor pool and spacious, contemporary rooms. It's across the road from the San Diego Convention Center, and is connected to Petco Park via skybridge -- but for those more interested in partying than in business or baseball, the nearby Hard Rock offers more exciting nightlife options.

Sophisticated upscale chain hotel in the Gaslamp Quarter
The Omni San Diego has a grown-up, business-oriented vibe and sophisticated decor. In the lobby, light woods, works of art displayed in recessed shelves, gleaming marble tile floors, soaring ceilings and huge glass windows combine to create a soothing, airy feel. Baseball memorabilia like glass displays with signed baseballs and uniforms are unique, local touches. The rooms are also calm and light-filled. But some patterns are generic, making the decor feel a little less than luxurious overall.
