What It's Like
Downtown San Siego is the city's business and cultural center. It's known for great ethnic dining, corporate offices, shopping, and excellent nightlife. It includes a number of smaller neighborhoods, such as Little Italy and the East Village, and is home to many of San Diego's top destinations, like the harbor, Petco Park, San Diego Convention Center, and Maritime Museum.
Where to Stay
Downtown's San Diego's most popular neighborhoods are the Gaslamp Quarter and Marina; they're so popular, in fact, that we dedicated separate guides just to them. Core-Columbia shares borders with both of these neighborhoods, so it's a convenient, and sometimes less expensive, alternative. The East Village, Downtown's warehouse district, offers easy access to art galleries, bars, restaurants, and the San Diego Padres' Petco Park. Little Italy has authentic Italian food, cool public art, and a location near the San Diego International Airport and San Diego Zoo.
