Hotel Spa Republica

The glass-and-stone Hotel Spa Republica has a contemporary style, but it's starting to show a bit of wear and tear around the edges, such as worn seating and nicks and scratches on the furniture. The lobby houses a brown-and-tan color scheme, large reception desk, and a brightly lit small seating area with a hodgepodge of armchairs and couches of different shapes, colors, and patterns. Decor is mostly modern, with gray or brown carpeting, dark-wood furniture, and a few hanging prints. With a wide array of features, and spacious rooms with kitchenettes, the hotel is a solid pick for families and couples on vacation. 

Restaurants, bars, coffee shops, and small shops surround the hotel, which is located in central Mar del Plata. The hotel is a 13-minute walk to the nearest beach, though travelers say it's not Mar del Plata's best beach. Casino del Mar is a 14-minute walk from the hotel, while the Cathedral of Mar del Plata is a six-minute walk away. Astor Piazzolla International Airport is a 25-minute drive from the hotel. 

The Hotel Spa Republica's 187 rooms, although modern, have started to show some wear and tear. There’s nothing especially distinctive about the rooms' style: they have the characterless design of chain hotels. Decor consists of dark-gray carpeting, a mix of dark- and warm-toned wooden furniture, wide headboards, and a brown-and-tan color scheme. All rooms have flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, safes, and air-conditioning, though it’s not individually controlled. They do offer the convenience of kitchenettes with microwaves, minibars, sinks, tableware, and kettles; some higher-priced rooms have stovetops. The VIP Suite has a furnished balcony. Apartments for at least four people have separate bedrooms and living rooms. Video game consoles can be rented from the front desk. The white-tile bathrooms feature shower/tub combos, hairdryers, and bidets. Toiletries are provided. Smoking rooms are available. 

Hotel Spa Republica offers a solid lineup of features. The spa includes an indoor pool, hot tub, saunas, baths, and offers massages and beauty treatments. A gym is attached to the spa, and though it’s large and filled with diverse cardio and weight equipment, not all of the equipment is state-of-the art. Fitness classes are offered. The  pool and gym are open to the public, so they can get crowded. The restaurant has half- and full-board meal options. It serves a hot breakfast buffet each morning (usually included in the rates) and a brunch on Sundays with a Champagne bar. International cuisine is served for lunch and dinner. Guests can grab drinks throughout the day, and 24-hour room service is available too. The hotel offers shuttle service to the beach (an amenity that can be included in the rate), and reserved beach tents for guests in the summer. There are four fully equipped meeting rooms and a business center. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the property. Valet parking is available for a fee (it must be reserved).
