Pros

- Comfortable, contemporary rooms with flat-screen TVs
- Outdoor rooftop pool
- Free printing
- Free cookies
Bottom Line
This 500-room chain hotel two blocks from the Magnificent Mile is nicer than your average Doubletree, but still solidly mid-range. Rooms all come with 27-inch flat-screen TVs, Neutrogena toiletries, MP3 hookups and coffeemakers with free coffee and tea. It's a pretty good value for what you get, but it's worth comparing rates with the more charming Millennium Knickerbocker.

A better-than-average mid-range hotel near the Magnificent Mile
Don't let the Doubletree name throw you. The chain is making a concerted effort to improve its brand image, and this property is proof that it is at least partially succeeding. It's a solid mid-range hotel for a good price, with contemporary (if not quite stylish) decor, a good (if not exceptional) American restaurant, a well-equipped (if windowless) 24-hour fitness center, and an outdoor rooftop pool (albeit a plain one). It's not exceptional, by any means, but it's better than you might expect. Still, it's worth comparing rates with the Millennium Knickerbocker, which has more charm and history.
