Bottom Line

Following the impact of Hurricane Harvey in September 2017, the hotel has reopened with limited amenities. The restaurant, health club, and meeting space are closed at this time. We will update our review when full service has been restored. The 400-room Omni Houston Hotel at Westside is an upscale business chain located in a suburban area near Memorial City Mall. This older property completed a multimillion-dollar renovation, and the stunning lobby now features a large koi pond where tall, slender trees extend from small circular islands. Other additions include a makeover for Black Gold Bar, a down-home place accented with animal skulls and dark wood. Rooms have contemporary, but bland, decor, and flat-screen TVs. The bathrooms are clean but generic, and shower/tub combos have dated pink tile. The fitness center is big and modern, and the outdoor pool is huge compared to those at comparable properties closer to downtown. The hotel has several meeting rooms for business travelers, but free Wi-Fi is only available to Omni Hotel members (it's free to join). The location is far from Downtown Houston, so it's best suited for those doing business in the area.

Omni Houston Hotel Westside

Location

Far from airports and downtown Houston; nothing in the immediate area is within walking distance

Omni Westside is located in a quiet suburban area near Memorial City Mall, just under an hour's drive from two major airports.

They say everything's bigger in Texas, and Houston definitely lives up to that. Characterized by steamy summer days and mild winter nights, the thriving metropolis sprawls over a flat landscape punctuated by tall, stately buildings and winding roadways. Major areas include East End, Montrose, Downtown, and the Kirby districts, but shopping, restaurants, and other attractions can be found off most major highways.

As the country's fourth biggest city, Houston is home to several major sports franchises, including the Astros, Rockets, and Texans, as well as the Johnson Space Center, where visitors can hear the infamous line, "Houston, we have a problem" from Apollo 13.

  • 39-minute drive to William P. Hobby Airport
  • 42-minute drive to George Bush Intercontinental Airport
  • 8-minute drive to Bear Creek Golf World
  • 12-minute drive to West Oaks Mall
  • 14-minute drive to Lakeside Country Club
  • 17-minute drive to Katy Mills Mall
  • 17-minute drive to George Bush Park
  • 23-minute drive to Memorial Park
  • 23-minute drive to Houston Galleria Shopping Center
  • 26-minute drive to Downtown Houston, the Houston Ballet, and Verizon Wireless Theater
  • 29-minute drive to Minute Maid Park
  • 31-minute drive to Houston Zoo, Reliant Stadium, and Toyota Center
  • 58-minute drive to Johnson Space Center
  • 1-hour-and-20-minute drive to Galveston
