Outside the city center, the lower-middle-range Albergo Fiorenza is a simple older hotel near the beach promenade, though it faces a busy street and a gas station. Its dated appearance can be a bit charming, as is the case with the dining room, which feels like a midcentury time capsule, but mostly the property looks overdue for a renovation. There's a tiny bar and free breakfast, but little else in the way of features. The 30 air-conditioned rooms have some modern amenities like flat-screen TVs, along with side-by-side balconies. A bus stop down the street can take guests to downtown Salerno within 15 minutes. The Albergo Fiorenza's decor is a late midcentury throwback, especially in its minty green, and pale yellow color palette and in some cases, actual furnishings, with a few '80s additions thrown in. This isn't the glamorous "Mad Men" look of the '60s, but rather functional furniture like cushioned metal chairs and armless sofas covered in a '80s print. As far as common areas go, the bar is crammed into a hallway between the lobby and the breakfast room, with no stools to sit on and only two armchairs accompanied by as many ashtrays. The hotel is probably at peak capacity when tourists book affordable stays here for Salerno's annual Christmas light show, a spectacular display that takes over the city streets.

The hotel sits on a busy street facing a gas station and a McDonald's, outside of downtown Salerno between the Amalfi and Cilentana coasts. The neighborhood is a bit run-down and deserted, with little of note within walking distance apart from the beachfront and a few local bars and restaurants. Having a car is helpful, despite the limited self-parking (for a fee) as the taxis can get expensive. Downtown Salerno is about a 10-minute drive, or 15 minutes via the nearby bus stop to Salerno Station. The Salerno Amalfi Coast Airport is about a 21-minute drive from the hotel.
