This large corporate hotel with 250 guest rooms, situated in Atlanta’s edge city of Dunwoody, largely attracts business travelers with its many on-site meeting spaces and proximity to a number of corporate parks. It is less suited to Atlanta tourists, given that downtown is about an hour’s ride on public transportation. However, the hotel runs a free shuttle service for locations within a five-mile radius, including the nearest MARTA station a mile east. Renovated in 2013, the hotel does have some design-oriented touches in the lobby, but the pool and certain room elements feel old. Guest rooms have modern, corporate-style furnishings, flat-screen TVs, and free Wi-FI. There have been reports of bedbugs at the property.
Ordinary brick building on the side of the interstate
The brick five-story building is set on a service-road near a gas station and the interstate, and is surrounded by corporate parks and suburban residences. While the exterior of the building indicates a building constructed in the '90s, the interior has a more modern feel thanks to the 2013 remodel; the lobby, including an ultra-wide atrium area, has a variety of graphic design carpeting, as well as some low-lying banquettes, leather chairs, and the occasional sculptural element. Business travelers and large groups constitute a significant portion of the clientele here, so the overall feel is corporate, if somewhat stylish.
Near the highway in Atlanta’s edge city of Dunwoody
The hotel is set near the interstate, informally called the Perimeter, in the edge city of Dunwoody. This suburban area is filled with corporate buildings, residences, and commercial plazas. The area immediately surrounding the hotel is not particularly suitable for walking, though the hotel does maintain a free shuttle service within a five-mile radius. The nearest MARTA station is about a mile away; downtown Atlanta is about an hour away on public transportation and about 20 to 25 minutes by car. Murphey Candler Park is just over a mile away. The Perimeter Mall, with loads of shops and restaurants, is just over two miles away.
Guests have remarked upon the ample size of the rooms here, which, depending on the type, are outfitted in earth tones or deep reds and grays. Wall-to-wall carpeting is patterned, and there is a design aesthetic of contemporary minimalism, with low-slung sectional couches and padded headboards in the larger rooms. Some guests have reported bugs of the biting variety here. Each room has a coffeemaker, a work desk with a lamp, an iron, a standard shower/tub combo, and a small flat-screen TV. Wi-Fi is included in all rooms, and suites with connecting rooms and rollaway beds are available.
Many meeting rooms, small fitness center, and lobby bar with TVs
A slightly crowded, windowless fitness center with drop ceilings houses a large handful of exercise machines and some free weights. Numerous meeting areas abound with large circular tables, patterned carpeting, and cushioned chairs with a somewhat '90s vibe. There is a coin laundry, as well as a business center with several computer stations and a printer for guest use. A small outdoor pool, surrounded by a concrete deck, is more suitable for dipping than laps. The on-site restaurant serves a buffet-style breakfast, and a la carte lunch and dinner daily. A small bar in the lobby has a few flat-screen TVs and modern hanging lamps.
