Bottom Line

Located a 30-minute drive northeast of Downtown Baltimore in the suburb of White Marsh, this Hilton Garden Inn is moderately stylish and reasonably priced. Highlights include an indoor pool, free local shuttle, 24-hour fitness center, and an on-site restaurant and bar. The immediate area has a strip-mall feel, but it’s close to shops, corporate offices, and I-95. Those looking for a slightly cheaper option should consider Hampton Inn Baltimore / White Marsh, right next door, or the nearby Fairfield Hotel.

Hilton Garden Inn Baltimore / White Marsh

Scene

A moderately stylish chain hotel outside of Baltimore

Opened in 2000, this Hilton Garden Inn doesn’t have much of a “wow” factor, but it has all the basics for a comfortable -- albeit generic -- hotel stay. The most stylish part of the property is the lobby and adjacent restaurant, which are airy and pleasant, with high ceilings, potted plants, a gas fireplace, and contemporary furniture in pastel shades of green and orange. The rooms are unmemorable but there’s little to offend; they are clean, spacious, and all the standard amenities are there.

This hotel is on the large-side for a Hilton Garden Inn. It features a decent-size indoor pool, fitness center, business center, small convenience store, and 6,000 square feet of meeting space (weddings and business events are frequently hosted in a 400-person ballroom).

The hotel is a bit too far outside Baltimore to appeal to city-goers, but a number of corporate offices are nearby, so business travelers are common here.

Location

A 30-minute drive from Baltimore in a suburban strip-mall neighborhood

Situated right off I-95, this suburban Hilton Garden Inn is sandwiched between a shopping mall, a strip mall, an IKEA, and a movie theater. The concrete-filled White Marsh neighborhood is less than picturesque, but there are plenty of shops and restaurants within walking distance. Corporate offices, such as Comcast and MedStar, are also less than five minutes away.

  • 15-minute drive from Martin State Airport
  • 20-minute drive from Oriole Park at Camden Yards
  • 25-minute drive from Baltimore’s Inner Harbor
