Bottom Line
Geared mostly toward business guests, Vienna House Andel’s Berlin is located outside of Berlin’s main city center, but most attractions can be reached easily by car or S-Bahn, two stops of which are situated outside of the hotel. With parking on-site, several huge meeting rooms, ballrooms, and presentation areas, a fitness center, and three saunas -- plus a whirlpool, Andel’s offers more amenities than most in its price range (that are located in the city center), but there's nothing of much interest to visit within walking distance. It’s a hip, modern hotel well-suited to anyone who doesn’t mind traveling by car or S-Bahn to visit the sights.

Scene
Business-y but bright, colorful, and cool
Upon entering Andel’s, there is a vague sense of being inside of a space ship, thanks to the vast lobby, low ceilings, and odd gold-plated office pod behind the reception desk. The overall design, with bright red bucket armchairs, low black love seats, and little yellow coffee tables, is distinctly futuristic. The theme continues in the restaurants and bars. The executive lounge features similar bright red chairs but the colors becoming more muted. The furnishings are sleek and compact on the rooftop lounge, in the breakfast area, and in the 14th floor Sky Bar, which features a black bar running the entire length of the room, accented by pink and green trim, delicate, artistic string lamps dangling from the ceiling, and striking views of south Berlin. Oscar’s restaurant is more casual, with simple black wood tables, a white brick accent wall, and a small patio. Restaurants a.choice, bright and lime green all over, and Delight, yellow and orange, are more formal -- but maintain a vibrant design flare.
Location
In the suburbs, about 15 minutes outside of center
In a quiet, spacious area at the southern edge of the city, Andel’s houses one of Berlin’s largest convention centers and towers over Landsberger Allee. It’s about tram five stops (20 minutes) from Berlin’s central hub, Alexanderplatz, and the TV tower. The S-Bahn train trip to the airport is 35 minutes and two S-Bahn stations are located within three minutes of the hotel. Besides Berlin’s Velodrome, about seven minutes away, there is nothing much in the way of attractions within walking distance.
Rooms
Slick and modern, with plenty of cheery color
There are a variety of rooms -- from superior, to deluxe, to long-stay, to executive -- and all are decorated in the bright, modern, retro style with black-and-white-striped accents, circle-patterned curtains, and vibrantly colored (in most cases, bumble bee yellow) furniture. Even the lowest category rooms (superior) are spacious with lounge chairs, large flat-screen satellite TVs with DVD players, coffee and tea kettles, slippers, minibars, safes, air-conditioning controls, and hip bathrooms with basin sinks, showers or baths, and heated floors. Suites each have a large separate living room with couches and a circular table for four. Many rooms have views looking toward the city with the TV Tower in the distance.
Features
Spa, saunas, and huge areas for events and presentations
In addition to a free breakfast buffet of breads, yogurt, cereals, drinks, eggs and bacon, Andel’s is home to two full-service lunch and dinner restaurants and the hip Sky Bar on the 14th floor. There is also an exclusive executive lounge and enormous meeting and presentation rooms. Standard -- and often slow -- Wi-Fi is free for all guests and high speed can be purchased by the hour. Paid amenities include a parking garage, electric car rental, room and laundry service, and a spa offering facials, massages, and a tanning bed. Guests have free access to the large fitness center, three saunas, and a whirlpool, and there is a fresh flower shop and souvenir shop on-site.
