Ambra Hotel

The Ambra Hotel is housed in a modern, salmon-pink building with a partial glass facade. The hotel was redesigned in 2016, and the original courtyard became a breakfast room with a partial glass ceiling. In the lobby, a dark-tiled floor pairs with white walls, plump white couches, and white chairs with steel legs for a fresh, modern look. Guests check in at a small wooden desk with two midcentury Saarinen chairs for seating. Near the front windows, an alcove functions as a homey library lounge with a wood floor, couches, and a wall of shelves stocked with books. This small hotel is often chosen by families and couples who wish to explore the city from a central location, but it attracts some business travelers, too, particularly in winter. 

The hotel is centrally located on the Pest side of the city, off of Kiraly Street, a main drag filled with restaurants, shops, and bars. Guests can walk to a slew of major sights in 20 minutes or less. For sights farther out, the Opera metro station is a four-minute walk away, with other modes of transportation nearby.

The Ambra Hotel's 21 standard rooms measure approximately 200 square feet and have neutral contemporary decor -- wall-to-wall carpeting, off-white walls, and beige fabrics. The hotel's 15 mid-range Superior Rooms and Triple Rooms measure 290 square feet and have more stylish decor, such as modern striped wallpaper in black or beige or velvety button-tufted chairs. White-tile bathrooms have heated towel racks and standing showers, but they're small and lack counter space. 

Rooms are air-conditioned and include flat-screen TVs, safes, free Wi-Fi, electric kettles, and minibars. Bathroom amenities include hairdryers and individual toiletries. Upgraded rooms may have balconies or floor-to-ceiling windows. The hotel's single apartment measures 365 square feet and includes a separate bedroom and living room. Entry-level rooms, which may face the small interior courtyard, lack views and light, but they tend to be quieter. Despite double-glazed windows, street-facing rooms pick up some noise.

As a small property, the Ambra Hotel lacks some of the features of larger hotels. There's no gym, restaurant, or bar. A daily breakfast buffet, which includes such hot and cold standards as cereal, bread, omelets, and sausage, is included in the rates, and coffee, tea, water, and light snacks like fruit, pretzels, and chips are available throughout the day, free of charge. The hotel has no gym, but it has a steam room and Finnish sauna, and in-room massages are available. 

The hotel has a 24-hour front desk and offers concierge services such as dry cleaning, laundry service, and ticket assistance. Underground parking is available for a fee. Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel, and a computer is available for guests' use.
