Bottom Line

The upscale Casa Morgano is a family-run boutique hotel with a tranquil setting on the edge of the town of Capri, a seven-minute walk from the islands' social hub of Piazzetta. The main outdoor swimming pool, restaurant, solarium, and selected rooms have stunning views over the sloping hillsides and Mediterranean Sea. The 27 rooms are bright and airy, and come with flat-screen TVs, minibars, free Wi-Fi, and private terraces. The hotel's restaurant/bar is only open for breakfast (free continental buffet), light lunches, and drinks. There's also a smaller heated swimming pool and fitness center, though no spa facilities. As an alternative, Hotel della Piccola Marina is a more modern property with a spa.

Scene

Family-owned villa with panoramic sea views

Set in a picturesque villa surrounded by Mediterranean pine and cypress trees, Casa Morgano is a family-owned villa featuring a mix of modern and old-fashioned decor. The lobby is a large area with white walls and pillars, white and blue hand-painted tiled flooring, and brown wicker chairs with white cushions. The gardens offer a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere with green grass, cobbled walls with overgrown vines, tall trees, and the occasional statue. Located on the highest level of the property with stunning panoramic views of the Bay of Marina Piccola and the green hills of the Monte Solarothe, the swimming pool area has the best views in the hotel. Both the restaurant and fitness center are built to look over the swimming pool, and enjoy equally stunning views. Overall, the atmosphere is peaceful, even with its close location to the buzzing Piazzetta. Guests here are mostly leisure travelers, particularly couples and older guests.

Location

A secluded setting that’s only seven minutes on foot from the Piazzetta

Located on the eastern side of Capri, Casa Morgano enjoys some of the most panoramic views on the island. The fairly quiet immediate area is mostly made up of other hotels and guest houses. Piazzetta, the islands' social hub, with numerous bars, restaurants, shops, and boutiques, is just seven minutes on foot. Several other popular restaurants, cafes, and luxury boutiques are located on the way. It's a lovely 15-minute walk along the cobblestone Via Tragara pathway to reach the Belvedere Tragara, which overlooks the Faraglioni rocks. The iconic Capri beach club La Fontelina is 10 minutes on foot. The Blue Grotto is on the other side of the island, a 23-minute drive away. Marina Grande harbor is an 11-minute drive from the hotel, where guests will be greeted by a hotel representative on arrival. Expect transfers to and from Naples International Airport to take approximately two hours by car and ferry.

Rooms

Bright and spacious with flat-screen TVs, minibars, and terraces

The 27 rooms at Casa Morgano are spacious and bright, with either garden or sea views. Decor follows a traditional theme, expect hand-painted majolica tiled floors, large French windows, white walls, antique furniture and paintings, and pops of color in the curtains and bedspreads. All of the rooms have large doors opening out onto a lovely furnished terrace with terra-cotta tiles and surrounded by potted plants. The suites include separate living areas with a sofa and coffee table. Amenities in all rooms include air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, minibars, safes, and free Wi-Fi. There are no in-room tea- and- coffee-making facilities. Bathrooms are spacious, with walk-in showers (some also with tubs), hairdryers, magnifying mirrors, and toiletries. Bathrobes and slippers are provided. Deluxe Junior Suites include a hot tub.
