Scene

Business hotel with contemporary decor in the same building as Homewood Suites

Hampton Inn Chicago Downtown/Magnificent Mile is housed in
the same skyscraper as Homewood Suites, which makes for a bustling lobby. Guests
from each hotel can use the other’s amenities free of charge. The lobby and breakfast room have
a simple, modern vibe, with wooden floors and furniture, and a gray color
scheme. Pops of color can be found in plush green chairs, red area rugs, and a burgundy accent wall. Gray walls and geometric-patterned carpet fill the
hallways. Many complaints have been made concerning the slowness of the
elevator. The hotel attracts a large number of business travelers as well as couples and families on vacation.

Location

Located right off Magnificent Mile, within walking distance to popular Chicago attractions

The hotel is located right off the popular
entertainment avenue of North Michigan Avenue, known as Magnificent Mile, and across the street from Northwestern Memorial Hospital. The John Hancock Center and the Water
Tower Place are both around seven minutes away on foot. The Lakefront Trail (a trail that lines the coast of Lake
Michigan) is an eight-minute walk away, while the Navy Pier and Millennium Park take just under 20 minutes to reach on foot. To explore other
parts of the city, travelers can hop on the closest metro (Chicago Red), which
is eight minutes away on foot. Chicago Midway International Airport is a 34-minute drive away.

Rooms

Contemporary rooms plus suites with kitchenettes and sofa beds

Rooms at this chain hotel are contemporary and warm, with the typical dark wooden headboards, patterned carpets, and forest green or blue-gray accent walls, with upholstery to match. Rooms are spacious and
include flat-screen TVs, coffeemakers, safes, and mini-fridges. Suites come
with kitchenettes that have stoves, microwaves, and even dishwashers, and each has a sofa bed. Bathrooms have granite counter tops, tan walls and floor
tiles, shower/tub combos, and magnifying mirrors. Neutrogena toiletries are provided. As one might expect, the higher the room, the better the view, and many rooms have great views of downtown Chicago or Lake Michigan. However, regardless of the floor, rooms can get noise from the nearby hospital including sirens throughout the night. Some past guests have also complained of maintenance or cleanliness issues in the rooms.

Features

Outdoor pool, fitness center, free breakfast, and a large business center

The Hampton Inn Chicago Downtown/Magnificent Mile has a seasonal outdoor pool along with a fitness center with a variety of weights and cardio machines. A free continental breakfast
or On-the-Run breakfast bags are available to all guests, and there is free coffee and
tea in the lobby throughout the day. The Suite Shop in the lobby offers snacks
for purchase, and there's a coin-operated laundry room at the hotel. Other features include meeting spaces with audiovisual equipment and a largish business center with computers, printers, and a paper shredder. Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel, and valet parking is available for a hefty fee.
