The Fleet

Situated in lively Temple Bar, the hotel offers an elegant contrast to the often rowdy pubs and tourist crowds outside. It occupies a charming brick building with a striped awning out front. The property is compact, as evidenced by the small lobby. It’s nonetheless inviting, with its classic decor in jewel tones and metallic accents. Purple velvet chairs surround a fireplace and there’s a wooden honor bar in the corner with several liquor options. The other main public area is the small breakfast room, decorated with a hot-pink accent wall. Hallways are clean and well-lit, highlighting ornate purple wallpaper. There is an elevator, but some rooms must be accessed by stairs. Most guests are tourists in town to see the major sights and experience the local pubs. 

The Fleet Street Hotel is located in Temple Bar, a bustling area of Dublin that's especially popular with tourists. This location offers lots of pubs, shops, and proximity to cultural and tourist attractions. Restaurants, theaters, and live music are easy to find on the surrounding streets. The shops of Grafton Street, as well as Trinity College, are a few minutes’ walk away. Dublin Castle can be reached in 10 minutes on foot and St. Patrick’s Cathedral in 17 minutes. Guinness Storehouse is a half-hour walk, about 15 minutes by taxi, or about 20 minutes by Luas (Dublin’s tram system). St. Stephen’s Green and the National Museum of Ireland can be reached within 15 minutes on foot. Dublin Airport is about 35 to 40 minutes by car or about 35 minutes by Luas (from Dublin, Westmoreland St. station). 

Rooms at The Fleet Street Hotel are clean, modern, and polished. Decor has a classic feel with luxe touches like autumnal-tone velvety pillows and bedspreads. Light-wood headboards offer contrast and colorful floral paintings decorate walls. There are desks and leather chairs as well. Bathrooms have narrow walk-in showers with rainfall showerheads. Heated towel racks, hairdryers, and toiletries are provided. Elegance Rooms, updated in 2015, offer luxury toiletries and larger showers, and some have roll-top bathtubs and original fireplaces. Triple and Family Rooms are available for larger groups. Standard amenities in all rooms include coffee- and tea-making facilities, flat-screen TVs, safes, and free Wi-Fi. All rooms face the street and some can get noise, but guests can request quieter rooms and ear plugs are provided as a precautionary measure. Note that some rooms are only accessible by stairs, so guests with heavy luggage or mobility concerns should ask ahead for rooms with elevator access. 

The Fleet Street Hotel doesn't offer many features, but that's to be expected of a smaller urban property. The location is arguably the hotel's best asset. Otherwise, the hotel has a small breakfast room where full Irish breakfast and a continental option are available daily, for a fee. The hotel is also next to O'Sullivan's Pub, which serves traditional Irish pub food from midday until early evening on weekdays. Traditional live music is popular seven nights a week. There are smoking terraces on the first and third floors of the hotel that have wicker seating and tables where guests can relax. Wi-Fi is free throughout and there's a 24-hour business center with a computer.
