Bottom Line

This luxury
hotel on the edge of Lake Lucerne offers stunning mountain and lake
views. It also has a convenient location right behind the main train station and within walking distance of the historic Old Town. The 189 rooms are spacious and filled with light, thanks to large floor-to-ceiling windows, and are decorated in a crisp,
contemporary style. Some rooms, however, have begun to show signs of wear and tear, and a renovation is slated for 2016 and 2017. The hotel includes a restaurant, bar, wine lounge,
fitness center and health club, and has extensive meeting facilities,
but it lacks a swimming pool. The Radisson Blu Hotel, Lucerne is competitively priced with other luxury properties in the area, but travelers seeking to stay in the Old
Town might want to compare rates with Hotel des Balances.

Light-filled contemporary interiors with colorful, mod furnishings

The
Radisson Blu Hotel, Lucerne occupies a long, modern-looking six-story
building with a glass-fronted facade. Interiors are fresh and contemporary:
The hotel lobby is vast and colorful, decked out in blue and red
rectangular and circular carpets, purple accent walls, illuminated
wall panels, and geometrically shaped sofas and easy chairs in tones of
red, gray, hot pink, and turquoise. Guests are greeted at individual
reception counters, airport check-in style, rather than having to
line up. This hotel is popular with business travelers as well as
couples and families traveling together for leisure, especially in
the summer months. It's also a popular stopover for tour groups.

Rooms

Spacious and light-filled contemporary-style rooms

The 189 rooms and suites at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Lucerne have large
floor-to-ceiling windows, which let in lots of
natural light, while also offering scenic views of the nearby lake
and mountains. Decor is stylishly chic and contemporary, featuring
a color palette of soft grays, whites, and blacks. The minimalist black or white furniture, in shapes of cubes and rectangles, contrast nicely with the gray carpeting and crisp white bed
linen. Shiny surfaces reflect light and add to the sleekness of the interiors: The wardrobes' sliding doors are made of clouded
glass, while the bathroom doors are a high-gloss white. In some
rooms, the bathroom doors open directly into the bedroom, instead of
the entrance hallway. Bathroom floors and walls are
tiled in soft beige or dark gray, and are fitted with white
rectangular vanities, and spacious walk-in showers or shower/tub
combos.All
rooms come with flat-screen TVs with 100 channels available
in different languages, and the possibility to connect directly to
portable devices like tablets and smartphones. Rooms also include coffee-
and tea-making facilities, minibars (stocked with alcoholic and
non-alcoholic drinks), safes, hairdryers, and free Wi-Fi.Rooms are spacious, with the Standard Rooms measuring 301 square feet
and sleeping a maximum of three guests. Standard Lake View Rooms
offer views over the lake and mountains, while Business Rooms are
spread over an area of 430 square feet, and can sleep up to three. These
rooms also come with sofas, and little extras like bathrobes and
slippers, and turndown service. Junior Suites measure 785
square feet, and are more exclusive, with separate seating areas,
Nespresso coffee machines, bathrobes, slippers, free buffet
breakfast, and turndown service.Be aware that some
rooms show signs of wear and tear, such as worn furniture and
stained carpeting. But renovations are planned
for 2016 and 2017.
