Marins Playa

Housing three distinctly different hotels, Marins is a giant complex delivering a range of atmospheres. The interiors throughout all three properties are classic and sophisticated, with some areas featuring a modern, polished look, such as white leather couches and chrome-leg coffee tables. Other areas feel a bit more dated, with '70s style rock accent walls and carved wood furniture topped in floral-print cushions. The three hotels are joined by a central reception area, welcoming guests with a palm tree-lined entrance. 

Despite the communal check-in, each hotel has it's own atmosphere and target market. Marins Playa Suites is an adult-only hotel, while Marins Playa and Marins Cala Nau both welcome kids. Of the three, Marins Playa is the flagship mega-resort, with the most features and room varieties. It's also the most family-friendly. While Marins Cala Nau is also a kid-friendly property, it doesn't specifically cater to families, and it's the only hotel of the three with conference facilities attracting some business travelers to the mix.

The grounds feel endless, with a minimum of three large swimming pools within each hotel; all with surrounding sun loungers and parasols. Marins Playa Suites has the best views of the three, with terraces overlooking the Mediterranean Ocean. But Marins Playa does offer a private adult-only rooftop solarium that also boasts spectacular views. Activities keep the place buzzing, whether it's energetic show cooking in the restaurants or entertainment programs for both adults and kids that kick off in the daytime and continue into the night.

Marins Hotels is centrally located in the tourism rich resort of Cala Millor, on the eastern side of Majorca Island. It's a seven-minute walk to the beautiful Cala Millor Beach, along with a handful of restaurants, bars, and shops along the promenade. Nearby activities include cycling, snorkeling, tennis, golf, aquatic sports, and boat trips. The nearest village, Son Servera, is a seven-minute drive from the hotel. Other nearby beaches include Cala Bona a nine-minute walk away, Costa de Los Pinos a nine-minute drive, and Sa Coma Beach an 11-minute drive. It's an eight-minute drive, or 19-minute bus trip, to Son Servera Golf Club. Mondrago Nature Reserve is an hour's drive from the property. Both Cala Bona and Cala Millor beaches have a harbor, where several boat excursions take place. It's a two-minute walk to the nearest bus stop. Palma Airport is about an hour's drive away.

The guest rooms, suites, and apartments throughout the three Marins Hotels can vary quite a bit in decor, color scheme, and layout, but throughout, soft beachy neutrals are used from sandy-hued striped bed runners to teal pillows. Wooden flooring, light wooden furniture, and simple framed artwork are also a common thread. Some rooms have undergone more recent renovations than others, and feature a fresher, more fashionable look with streamlined furniture and dark-wood headboards. Others are still awaiting a revamp and sport old-fashioned print bedding and curtains and chunkier wood furniture. But all include balconies or terraces with either mountain, swimming pool, or ocean views.

Marins Playa Suites have the most modern rooms, including Double Rooms, Suites, Junior Suites, and Royal Suites. Suites include a separate living/dining area and kitchenette, while the Double Rooms and Junior Suites only include an electric kettle. The penthouse Royal Suites are the most spacious, including large bedrooms, living areas, dining areas, and rooftop terraces with private hot tubs and sun loungers.

Marins Playa has the largest selection of room types available; including one or two-bedroom apartments, Studios, Family Suites, and Premium Rooms. The apartments include a separate lounge/living area and kitchenette -- studios, suites, and the Premium Rooms include only a mini-fridge, microwave, and electric kettle. The Superior Studios and Superior Apartments feature similar amenities as the standard studios and apartments, though with a more modern, upgraded design. The Premium Rooms are the most luxurious. Located on the top floor, they offer large terraces and sun loungers.

Marins Cala Nau includes apartments, studios, and penthouse. The apartments and studios include separate lounge and living areas, as well as kitchenettes. The Penthouse is located on the top floor, and provides large private terraces with sun loungers and spectacular views.

All rooms throughout the hotels include air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, telephones, mini-fridges, safes (for a fee), tea- and- coffee-making facilities, and free Wi-Fi. En-suite bathrooms include either walk-in showers or shower/tub combos, with hairdryers and toiletries on hand.

As with the rooms, each of the three hotels within the Marins Hotels complex have their own distinctive features, catering to the specific guests they attract. But one point they have in common: All include free buffet breakfast and the option for half-board meal plans.

The adults-only Marins Playa Suites has possibly the most straight-forward lineup of features, including three restaurants, serving a variety of dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There's also a bar area, with plush sofas and a selection of cocktails. There are two large swimming pools with incredible views overlooking the ocean, as well as a hot tub; with surrounding sun loungers and crisp white sun umbrellas popping against the palm trees.

Marins Playa has the most extensive features of the bunch. Both the restaurant and pool bar at the resort include show cooking, serving breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and drinks. An adult-only restaurant is also available at Marins Playa for those looking for calmer meals. Another adult-only spot is the rooftop solarium, with hot tubs, bar service, sun loungers, and sun umbrellas. There are three outdoor swimming pools, ranging from a pirate-themed swimming pool for the youngest guests to a hot tub for the adults. There's also an indoor swimming pool, with sauna, hydromassage, hot tub, and upstream current. A daily kids program is available, along with evening entertainment for adults. Other activities for kids include a mini-football pitch, volleyball, playground, mini-golf, and darts. An adult games room is available with snooker, table tennis, and foosball. Guests have free access to the fitness center, a simple white-walled space with a mix of cardio and weight-training equipment. An on-site supermarket sells fresh fruit, pastries, baked goods, cold drinks, and newspapers.

Marins Cala Nau has two outdoor swimming pools, surrounded by sun lounges and parasols. The indoor swimming pool includes a sauna, hot tub, and hydromassage. Its restaurant also includes show cooking. Both adults and kids are entertained with the day and night-time entertainment programs. Unlike the other two hotels, it also includes two conference rooms, catering for up to 55-guests, which makes it the obvious choice for business travelers. There's a games room and fitness center as well.

All of the hotels have access to on-site medical care, laundry service, and free Wi-Fi throughout.
