In an unpleasant part of town
The Hotel Roma Golden Glades
Resort is a centrally located value hotel with 105 air-conditioned rooms. Decor and furnishings are dated -- rooms still have tube-style TVs -- and some guests have complained that the bathrooms lack adequate towels. Features include a large outdoor pool that's surrounded by greenery and statues, but seating is limited. Unusual for a budget property, the Roma levies a mandatory daily resort fee to cover Wi-Fi, pool access, and parking.
Scene
A friendly, Tuscan-inspired hotel with dated decor
A quiet and friendly atmosphere emanates
throughout the Hotel Roma Golden Glades Resort, a Tuscan-inspired value resort spread over four acres of
well-kept land. A large column-supported portico interspersed with Roman statues marks the entrance of this salmon-hotel hotel, and leads to a lobby with floor-to-ceiling windows. The lobby features reddish tile floors, big green leather
sofas, fake potted plants, and wooden tables along with a green-and-white tile front desk. The hotel attracts leisure travelers on a budget, and while it does have conference facilities, it's not the snazziest place to hold an annual meeting.
Location
Central location off the freeway, with many sites less than 10 minutes away
The Hotel Roma Golden Glades Resort is
right off the Palmetto Expressway (826), in an unpleasantly barren area. Although there's little within walking distance beyond an independent minimart, the Roma is less than a 10-minute drive from the Mall at 163rd
Street, Sun Life Stadium, and Calder Casio and Race Course. The Interstate 95 is also less than 10 minutes from the hotel, while
Oleta River State Park, American Airlines Arena, and Gulfstream Park Racing and
Casino are about a 15-minute drive. Miami International Airport is also 15 minutes
from the hotel, and the Bal Harbour Shops and Port of Miami take around
20 minutes to reach.
Rooms
Dated but clean rooms and suites with motel-like decor, down to tube-style TVs
The Hotel Roma offers clean but dated and dimly lit rooms and suites with multi-colored
comforters, dark-green carpeting, and worn wooden furniture that give the spaces the look and feel of a 1980s value motel. Colorful framed art pieces hang on the walls and there are big wooden armoires housing tube-style TVs with HBO. Rooms come with air-conditioning and mini-fridges come standard in most room types (available on request in Standard Rooms). Suites feature large whirlpool tubs in the living areas and have mini-fridges, microwaves, and sofa beds. There are
also terraces with seating and some have pool views. Plain bathrooms
are covered in reddish tile and white countertops with shower/tub combos, unappealing yellow
shower curtains, and textured walls. Past guests have complained that the bathrooms lack an adequate number of towels.
Features
Large outdoor pool surrounded by statues, and daily resort fee for Wi-Fi and parking
The major highlight of the hotel is its big outdoor pool, which is surrounded by a nice brick deck and Tuscan-style statues. Palm trees and small grassy areas add some greenery, and there is a small amount of seating available. Car rentals can be arranged on-site, and the hotel offers faxing
and photocopying services. All
guests must pay a mandatory daily resort fee, which includes pool access,
Wi-Fi, and parking.
