Bottom Line
The 80-room, mid-range Dellarosa Hotel Suites & Spa is located in the quiet Hivernage quarter of Marrakesh, about a 10-minute cab ride or a 20- to 25-minute walk to the medina, and close to the Palais de Congres convention center. The hotel's architecture and decor are contemporary, with dashes of traditional Moroccan flair. The high point of the Dellarosa is the rooftop solarium, with a beautiful mosaic tile deck, sun lounges, and a panoramic city view. It also has an a small outdoor pool and hot tub, a spa with hamman, and a fitness center. Rooms are spacious but dark, and show some wear and tear.

Scene
Contemporary decor with traditional Moroccan accents, in a solid location for sight-seeing
The Dellarosa Hotel Suites & Spa is well located for guests who want peace and quiet but still want to explore Marrakesh’s bustling medina and prime tourist sights. The hotel combines modern amenities with touches of traditional Moroccan decor. The colors are handsome -- chocolate browns, deep oranges, and wine reds -- but the space itself is oddly configured in places; it's winding and narrow, with exposed ducts and industrial features that give the common areas a bit of an airport or jet-way vibe. Maintenance and upkeep could be better; upon close examination, shabby spots appear, including dings on the walls and repairs carelessly made, that bring the hotel’s rating down a notch. The ornately carved wooden lockers in the fitness center are beautiful; it would be nice if this attention to detail was reflected throughout the property. One corner of the lobby, furnished with Moroccan-chic upholstered benches, pretty wooden occasional tables, and hanging lanterns, shows some style. The free breakfast is plentiful, with hot food, including Moroccan merguez sausage. As a base for exploring Marrakesh, the Dellarosa is fine, but guests looking for a luxe experience may want to look elsewhere.
Location
On a safe, well-lit street, a 20- to 25-minute walk to the medina
The Dellarosa Hotel Suites & Spa sits on a safe, well-lit street in the peaceful Hivernage quarter of Marrakesh’s new city, a 20- to 25- minute walk to the medina, the city’s historic quarter. From the rooftop solarium, the Atlas Mountains are visible in the distance. The train station, and an adjacent bus station, are 10 minutes away on foot. Next to the hotel is a grocery store, but be warned: No outside food or drink is permitted on the hotel premises, and lobby staff have been known to enforce this rule. The Marrakech Menara Airport is a 15-minute drive from the Dellarosa.
Rooms
Spacious and modern, with showers and tubs, flat-screen TVs, and room service
Rooms at the Dellarosa Hotel Suites & Spa are spacious and modern, with Select Comfort beds -- which are either doubles or twins, no king or queen beds. Each room has an office corner with a desk, and there is free, albeit shaky, Wi-Fi. Decor is dark and subdued, but stylish, in rich browns and ochres. Bathrooms have large shower/tub combinations. Adjoining rooms are available. Guests have complained about maintenance problems such as blown lightbulbs, loose wires, scuffed walls, and freestanding in-room safes that defeat the purpose. Some Suites have kitchenettes but scant dishware or cutlery. Rooms on lower floors are dark, while rooms on higher floors get more sunlight.
Features
Outdoor pool, cool hammam/steam room, Moroccan cuisine, and rooftop terrace
The Dellarosa Hotel Suites & Spa has a small outdoor pool, which is good for soaking but not for serious swimming, and a spacious fitness center with plenty of cardio and weight equipment, and a personal trainer. The spa is small, but the large hammam is cavelike, done in pretty mosaic tiles. La Table d’Aida serves Moroccan cuisine, and Le 500 offers an international menu. There is live music in Le Bar 500 every night. The rooftop solarium is huge and beautiful, with panoramic views of the city and the distant Atlas Mountains. There is a fully equipped meeting room that seats 70 people.
