Archipelagos Luxury Hotel Mykonos

The Archipelagos Hotel is a beautiful hillside hideaway with architecture and decor inspired by the colors and brilliant sunlight of Mykonos. The hotel sits alone on the side of a hill, offering gorgeous Aegean Sea views. It has a quintessential Greek Island vibe, with lots of white and pops of blue and other vivid colors, as well as beautiful gardens and walkways lined with palm trees and flowers. Interiors feature native stones, seashells, and driftwood sculptures and frames. Even the pool area is chic, with sophisticated sunbeds padded with comfortable cushions that extend over the water.

The Archipelagos Hotel is located on a quiet hillside in southeast Mykonos, overlooking the Aegean Sea. Kalo Livadi beach is a five-minute walk from the hotel, while Kalafati Beach is about a 20-minute walk. Guests who enjoy water sports, hiking, biking, and golf will find plenty of opportunities in the surrounding area, as well as a variety of beach bars and restaurants. Mykonos town and its nightlife, including Little Venice, is at least a 20-minute drive away, while the famed Cavo Paradiso club is an even longer drive and can take up to 30 minutes. Guests who want to easily explore the island will need to rent a car to get around, and can use the hotel's free parking. Among popular tourist attractions, the Monastery of Panagia Tourliani in the traditional village of Ano Mera is about an eight-minute drive, while the Mykonos Windmills, the Old Port, and the Archeological Museum are all within a 20-minute drive. The Mykonos airport can also be reached in about 20 minutes by car, and the hotel provides airport transfers for a surcharge.

Guest rooms at the Archipelagos Hotel are large and sunny, with picturesque private balconies or terraces -- most of which overlook the sea. They resemble little Greek Island cottages with pretty painted shutters and traditional Cycladic arches, as well as plenty of flowers, cacti, and trees surrounding the buildings. The rooms are individually decorated, but all are painted white, with tile floors, white furnishings, and colorful accents in the bed linens and curtains. Many have striking upholstered headboards, and some rooms feature stunning photographs of Greek architecture and blue skies hanging above beds. 

Rooms come in a variety of configurations, from doubles to Family Suites to the romantic Honeymoon Suite. Rooms are soundproofed and come with blackout drapes for added privacy and sound sleeping. Bathrooms are modern and moderately sized, with shower/tub combos, or walk-in showers. Many of the bathrooms have windows for fresh air and sunshine. Some of the suites have whirlpool tubs, while the Archipelagos Sea View Suite and the Honeymoon Junior Sea View Suite have outdoor hot tubs. Standard amenities include flat-screen TVs with satellite channels, CD and DVD players, minibars, in-room safes, and free toiletries, plus Nespresso machines in all but entry-level Premium Double Rooms.

One of the highlights here is the hotel's outdoor pool that's surrounded by comfortable, cushioned sunbeds and other seating (open seasonally). There is a poolside bar serving light meals and cocktails throughout the day. Guests can also head to the beach, which is a short walk from the hotel, where beach towels, chairs, and umbrellas are available to rent for a (somewhat pricey) fee. 

The beachfront Archipelagos restaurant serves an a la carte Greek menu featuring locally sourced ingredients. It has a shaded dining patio that offers lovely views, and it offers a children’s menu for the younger set. A five-course prix fixe menu is also available. A free breakfast is served in a lovely dining room, and features a hot and cold Greek buffet loaded with local ingredients and freshly baked breads and sweets from the area. A coffee and tea area in the lobby offers hot drinks throughout the day.

The Wellness Studio is the hotel’s spa, offering a lengthy list of treatments that includes reflexology, aromatherapy, Thai and Indian treatments, shiatsu, herbal and honey massages, facials, cellulite treatments, and more. Guests are encouraged to make reservations in advance of their arrival. The fitness room is stocked with cardio and weight equipment. 

Mopeds and scooters can be rented on the premises, plus the hotel offers a shuttle to nearby shopping areas, tourist attractions, and the airport (for an extra fee). Wi-Fi is free throughout the property.
